I bet O has never even held a gun in his grubby, gun grabbing hands. He is not…that…type…of…thug.
(Telegraph) –Barack Obama has a well-documented history of shooting, but until now his target list has been confined to election night “hoops” with his basketball buddies, the odd frame of eight-ball pool, and a record number of rounds of golf at Andrews Air Force base.
When Mr Obama added clay-pigeon shooting to that list in a bid to reassure American gun owners he would not interfere with their hunting, however, there were those who wondered if the President might be trying just a little too hard.
“Up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,” Mr Obama breezed to The New Republic magazine, adding he had “a profound respect for the traditions of hunting”.
Marsha Blackburn, a Republican congresswoman from Tennessee, wondered why, if Mr Obama was such a keen shot, it had never been made public – until now.
“If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this? Why have we not seen photos? Why hasn’t he referenced this at any point in time?” Mrs Blackburn continued. “I’ll go skeet shooting with him and I bet I’ll beat him.”
The White House press corps were soon firing the same questions at Jay Carney, the Obama administration press secretary. “Are there photographs?” the reporters probed, forcing Mr Carney to admit there were none – visibly scrambling to add: “Because when he goes to Camp David, he goes to spend time with his family and friends and relax, not to produce photographs.”
Seasoned correspondents could not help observing that the White House photographer, Pete Souza, has taken pictures of Mr Obama engaged in most other known leisure activities – golfing, basketball, ten-pin bowling in the White House alley, even shooting a water-pistol with his girls at Camp David – but not, it seemed, shooting.

Obama goes ‘skeet shooting all the time’? Hardly ever, sources say
News of President Obama’s apparently long-secret fondness for skeet shooting came as a surprise to those who say they have witnessed the president’s “awkward” attempts at pinging the (clay) pigeons.
This has only happened with the president at Camp David, at most, a couple of times, according to a source who says he has been to the retreat on a half-dozen visits with Obama.
“The only time he shot skeet was for President’s Cup,” said the source, referring to a shooting competition tradition involving the presidential Marine guards. “I was there. He stayed for about five minutes, and couldn’t leave fast enough.”
Skeet shooting “is very hard,” said the source. “Especially for someone not used to guns … He couldn’t have been more uncomfortable.”
The source said a friend of his recalled Obama skeet shooting one other time at Camp David — very early on in his first term.
