TX Gun Store Famous For It’s Snarky Pro-2nd Amendment Signs Is Facing Bank Shutdown

June 21, 2014 at 12:42 pm

All hands on deck.

Tactical Firearms needs your help.

tact

Tactical Firearms latest sign is neither funny nor clever as per usual, it instead relays an ominous message.

Via Guns Save Lives:

Tactical Firearms has prided itself in being honest with our customers from our first day in business. That’s why we are alerting you today to a situation that we believe to be unjust and punitive against Tactical Firearms, and this is a situation that threatens to put us out of business on July 1, 2014.

Tactical Firearms has just been given notice that our loan with Icon bank has been called in. Not because of no payment, as we have never been late or missed a payment, but because the board of directors has chosen to not renew the loan. Deciding to call a loan which has a perfect payment record and is profitable to the bank is almost unheard of in the banking industry. This is why we believe Tactical Firearms is being specifically targeted with punitive actions in an effort to put us out of business.

But there’s even more to this situation that you need to know:

Back in 2012 Tactical Firearms purchased the land next to our existing facility. Icon Bank suggested an interim loan at 7% interest and then to refinance all of our loans together into one loan at a lower rate of 3.579%. At that time we had a fixed, long term loan for the building and the construction of the range. By purchasing the land, it cross collateralized the loans and put us in a situation (unknown to us at the time) that could threaten our entire business.

When it became time to refinance the loans, one of our owners (30%), Steven Coe Wilson, decided to back out. It is our belief based on what we have since learned that Steven wished to seize control of the company. We have substantial reason to believe he recruited some of our longest and hardest working employees to overbuy, to overspend, and to bury Tactical Firearms in debt to the point that we could not pay our bills. His grand plan appears to have been to swoop in and buy up the loan when the bank foreclosed on us for failure to pay. Perhaps to his disappointment, not only have we successfully paid our loan notes, we have also cut the unpaid bills by over half.

Sadly, because Steven did not sign the loan refinance that he had previously agreed to, the short term loan for the land has now matured. By default, our primary business loan is now in jeopardy.

ANTI-TRUST PRACTICES?

Further complicating this situation, it has also been brought to our attention that a member of the board of directors of Icon Bank, Mark Evans, is the owner of a new gun store in the Houston area. Based on what we’ve learned about this competitor, we are convinced that this bank has the intensions of forcing Tactical Firearms out of business to remove a major competitor from the market of Mr. Mark Evans’ new business, Guns Over Texas. If true, we believe this would constitute unfair trade practices in the State of Texas, and we intend to pursue this matter with the office of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.

Further connections support our accusations of anti-trade practices. For example, Mark Evans is the Managing Partner for Commercial Finance with the firm O’Connor, Craig, Gould & Evans – the firm that is being used by Icon Bank to proceed with the foreclosure. We strongly protest what appears to be a clear conflict of interest on the part of Mark Evans, who appears to be using his influence at the law firm (and therefore the bank) to engage in destructive, punitive actions with the ultimate aim of destroying his competition and thus ensuring the profitability of his own gun store.

Such behavior is monopolistic, anti-free-trade and un-American. Please contact the Attorney General and urge him to look into this matter.

Email: Attorney General Greg Abbott
greg.abbott@texasattorneygeneral.gov

At the same time, the bank’s excuse to us for calling in the loan is because the “government does not support loans to the gun, alcohol, or hotel industries” and the banks get heavily audited. This is an extension of the Obama administration’s backdoor efforts to bankrupt the firearms industry and all its supporting retailers and firing ranges. Since the government can’t take away our Second Amendment directly, they make it difficult for businesses to stay open by pressuring banks to close loans. This has already happened to other gun shops around the country. We are fighting to make sure it doesn’t happen to us.

All these factors seem to now be coalescing into a deliberate, well-planned attack on Tactical Firearms with the aim of permanently putting us out of business. The idea of our doors closing is incredibly painful to even imagine. We have over 30 employees, many of whom have children, who depend on our successful business operations to keep their own homes. In addition to our economic contributions to Katy and the greater Houston area, we also donate our time and profits to charities like Oilfield Helping Hands and Texas Sentinels.

Even more, there are 175 NFA items in our possession awaiting approval from the ATF. If we are unable to stay in business, every single one of these items would have to be resubmitted and the year long process would begin again.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FIGHT THIS TYRANNY

Today, I am reaching out to YOU, our valued customers and supports, to ask for your help in keeping us out of the clutches of these punitive, monopolistic actions that now threaten Tactical Firearms.

FIRST, we need you to CONTACT THE BANK and urge them to reconsider their intended loan recall, pointing out that all banks need goodwill in the community in order to stay in business themselves:

John Green, President and Vice Chairman of the Board Icon Bank,
jgreen@iconbanktx.com
281-517-2430

www.iconbanktx.com

SECOND, we ask that you contact Mark Evans, who resides on the Board of Directors of Icon Bank, and let him know that the community is now heavily scrutinizing his actions and that we believe he is engaged in anti-trust violations of state and federal law. We will not hesitate to take this issue to the press if Evans pursues what we believe to be a punitive, anti-trade assault on our business rights:

Mark Evans, Board of Directors Icon Bank and Managing Partner of O’Connor, Craig, Gould & Evans,
mark.evans@bgllp.com, 713-221-1300

THIRD, we ask that you help put out the word that all this could be readily solved if another INVESTOR or LENDER could be identified who would step up to the plate and support this successful business. We are a high-integrity, profitable business with a strong credit history and a perfect record of loan payment. Any lender would be thrilled to do business with a company like Tactical Firearms, and if a lender or investor wishes to help support our operations, it would also be a PROFITABLE venture for them to do so.

If you know of such a lender or investor who is interested in a profitable partnership with Tactical Firearms, please have them contact us at:
Email: helpus@tacticalfirearms.us

Finally, all of us here at Tactical Firearms thank you for your ongoing support, and please know that we are deeply dedicated to finding solutions that will defend us against this punitive and potentially unlawful attempts to destroy our business.

We believe in America. We believe in the Second Amendment. And we also believe that businesses operating in Texas should not be subjected to Gestapo-style tactics from the banking industry and its insiders. What we are fighting for here is the integrity of the entire business infrastructure which obviously depends on lenders to act on good faith when supporting expanding businesses.

What this system is trying to do to Tactical Firearms right now is a travesty of justice, and it’s just one more sign of the kind of punitive insanity we are seeing played out across this great nation by a network of anti-American individuals who are attempting to destroy the fabric of this nation one day at a time.

We refuse to let that happen, and we will fight this with every ounce of effort and breath within our reach. We thank you for any assistance and help you can offer us in this very trying time.

Share this with everyone you know and please keep all of us in your prayers.

Sincerely,
The Tactical Firearms Family

Hillary On 2nd Amendment Supporters “Minority Hold VIEWPOINT That TERRORIZES The Majority” [Video]

June 18, 2014 at 8:12 am

According to Hillary Clinton gun owning 2nd amendment supporters are –terrorists guilty of –thought crimes. These “guys“, not so much. And they are the only “minority” (as if) group of Americans she is comfortable assaulting.

“I’m well aware that this is a hot political subject. And again, I will speak out no matter what role I find myself in But I believe that we need a more thoughtful conversation. We cannot let a minority of people – and it’s, that’s what it is, it is a minority of people – hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people.

– Hillary Clinton CNN Televised Town Hall With Christiane Amanpour- Hillary Clinton’s Hard Choices June 17, 2014

Hillary’s statement brings up a terrifying question: What steps would President Hillary Clinton take to prevent Americans from holding a “viewpoint?

The full exchange:

GAIL SANTA MARIA, PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER: Hi.

CLINTON: Hi.

SANTA MARIA: My name is Gail Santa Maria. I’m from Maryland. I’m a teacher.

My question is about guns. I’m very concerned about the proliferation of guns in America, especially as it pertains to school shootings.

CLINTON: Right.

SANTA MARIA: Do you think that that reinstating the ban on assault weapons and banning high capacity magazines would do any good?

CLINTON: Yes, I do. I do.

SANTA MARIA: Good.

CLINTON: You know, my –

(APPLAUSE) CLINTON: First of all, I think as a teacher or really any parent, what’s been happening with these school shootings should cause everybody to just think hard. We make hard choices and we balance competing values all the time. And I was disappointed that the Congress did not pass universal background checks after the horrors of the shootings at Sandy Hook and now we’ve had more –

SANTA MARIA: Seventy-four more.

For a woman in charge of educating children Gail sure has trouble keeping up, because that figure has been proven false in a CNN report a full 6 days before the CNN televised event on which she parroted Bloomberg’s Everytown lie. It has also been debunked by Politifact.
Annnnnnd…

It certainly seems like suicides and gang violence should be delineated from “school shootings” (in which the “mass” is pretty much implied) as separate problems, no? Unless, of course, your real goal is to falsely portray an America in which wildly violent, deadly, and indiscriminate gun violence is increasing — rather than the actual trend in which it has for two decades been [CNN: sharply decreasing .]

Back to gun grabbing fascist Hillary:

CLINTON: — in the time since.

And I don’t think any parent, any person should have to fear about their child going to school or going to college because someone, for whatever reasons — psychological, emotional, political, ideological, whatever it means — could possibly enter that school property with an automatic weapon and murder innocent children, students, teachers.

I’m well aware that this is a hot political subject. And again, I will speak out no matter what role I find myself in. But I believe that we need a more thoughtful conversation. We cannot let a minority of people — and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people — hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people. And I have — you are about the fifth person in the last weeks, parents and another teacher, just interested citizens, who have said something similar to me.

So, my view is that yes, we need to thrash this out in the political realm. But the vast majority of Americans, even law abiding gun owners, people –

SANTA MARIA: Who want background checks that work.

CLINTON: — who want background checks that work, information that is shared immediately, and an awareness that, you know, we’re going to have to do a better job protecting the vast majority of our citizens, …

Hey Hill, I’m pretty sure these guys bypass background checks.

hey liberals 2

…including our children, from that very, very, very small group that is unfortunately prone to violence and now with automatic weapons can wreak so much more violence than they ever could have before.

Hillary does not know the difference between fully automatic and semi automatic weapons. So let’s trust her with our gun rights. Heh.

The lefts usage of “assault weapons” is pardon the pun –a “trigger word”.

Officer Leroy Pyle debunks myths about semi-autos. He uses demonstrations with live firearms and congressional testimony by DEA, ATF and FBI agents to show what the truth really is.

Columbine Survivor’s Open Letter To Obama Rejecting Gun Control: “Whose Side Are You On?”

June 13, 2014 at 7:17 am

gun_control_expertsThis is dated February 2013, but as you all are well aware the topic remains highly relevant to this day.

Via The Blaze:

Columbine survivor Evan Todd released an open letter to President Barack Obama on Wednesday in which he offers a point-by-point analysis of proposed firearms control initiatives, dismissing them as ineffective and dangerous to Americans’ rights.

He recently outlined why he fervently disagrees with the gun control policies that have been proposed in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. TheBlaze interviewed Todd earlier this week and subsequently detailed how his experience being shot back in 1999 has shaped his views on the issue.

Mr. President,

As a student who was shot and wounded during the Columbine massacre, I have a few thoughts on the current gun debate. In regards to your gun control initiatives:

Universal Background Checks

First, a universal background check will have many devastating effects. It will arguably have the opposite impact of what you propose. If adopted, criminals will know that they can not pass a background check legally, so they will resort to other avenues. With the conditions being set by this initiative, it will create a large black market for weapons and will support more criminal activity and funnel additional money into the hands of thugs, criminals, and people who will do harm to American citizens.

Second, universal background checks will create a huge bureaucracy that will cost an enormous amount of tax payers dollars and will straddle us with more debt. We cannot afford it now, let alone create another function of government that will have a huge monthly bill attached to it.

Third, is a universal background check system possible without universal gun registration? If so, please define it for us. Universal registration can easily be used for universal confiscation. I am not at all implying that you, sir, would try such a measure, but we do need to think about our actions through the lens of time.

It is not impossible to think that a tyrant, to the likes of Mao, Castro, Che, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and others, could possibly rise to power in America. It could be five, ten, twenty, or one hundred years from now — but future generations have the natural right to protect themselves from tyrannical government just as much as we currently do. It is safe to assume that this liberty that our forefathers secured has been a thorn in the side of would-be tyrants ever since the Second Amendment was adopted.

Ban on Military-Style Assault Weapons

The evidence is very clear pertaining to the inadequacies of the assault weapons ban. It had little to no effect when it was in place from 1994 until 2004. It was during this time that I personally witnessed two fellow students murder twelve of my classmates and one teacher. The assault weapons ban did not deter these two murderers, nor did the other thirty-something laws that they broke.

Gun ownership is at an all time high. And although tragedies like Columbine and Newtown are exploited by ideologues and special-interest lobbying groups, crime is at an all time low. The people have spoken. Gun store shelves have been emptied. Gun shows are breaking attendance records. Gun manufacturers are sold out and back ordered. Shortages on ammo and firearms are countrywide. The American people have spoken and are telling you that our Second Amendment shall not be infringed.

10-Round Limit for Magazines

Virginia Tech was the site of the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history. Seung-Hui Cho used two of the smallest caliber hand guns manufactured and a handful of ten round magazines. There are no substantial facts that prove that limited magazines would make any difference at all.
Second, this is just another law that endangers law-abiding citizens. I’ve heard you ask, “why does someone need 30 bullets to kill a deer?”

Let me ask you this: Why would you prefer criminals to have the ability to out-gun law-abiding citizens? Under this policy, criminals will still have their 30-round magazines, but the average American will not. Whose side are you on?

Lastly, when did they government get into the business of regulating “needs?” This is yet another example of government overreaching and straying from its intended purpose.

Selling to Criminals

Mr. President, these are your words: “And finally, Congress needs to help, rather than hinder, law enforcement as it does its job. We should get tougher on people who buy guns with the express purpose of turning around and selling them to criminals. And we should severely punish anybody who helps them do this.”

Why don’t we start with Eric Holder and thoroughly investigate the Fast and Furious program?

Furthermore, the vast majority of these mass murderers bought their weapons legally and jumped through all the hoops —  because they were determined to murder. Adding more hoops and red tape will not stop these types of people. It doesn’t now — so what makes you think it will in the future? Criminals who cannot buy guns legally just resort to the black market.

Criminals and murderers will always find a way.

Critical Examination

Mr. President, in theory, your initiatives and proposals sound warm and fuzzy — but in reality they are far from what we need. Your initiatives seem to punish law-abiding American citizens and enable the murderers, thugs, and other lowlifes who wish to do harm to others.

Let me be clear: These ideas are the worst possible initiatives if you seriously care about saving lives and also upholding your oath of office. There is no dictate, law, or regulation that will stop bad things from happening — and you know that. Yet you continue to push the rhetoric. Why?

You said, “If we can save just one person it is worth it.” Well here are a few ideas that will save more that one individual:

First, forget all of your current initiatives and 23 purposed executive orders. They will do nothing more than impede law-abiding citizens and breach the intent of the Constitution. Each initiative steals freedom, grants more power to an already-overreaching government, and empowers and enables criminals to run amok.

Second, press Congress to repeal the “Gun Free Zone Act.” Don’t allow America’s teachers and students to be endangered one-day more. These parents and teachers have the natural right to defend themselves and not be looked at as criminals. There is no reason teachers must disarm themselves to perform their jobs. There is also no reason a parent or volunteer should be disarmed when they cross the school line.

This is your chance to correct history and restore liberty. This simple act of restoring freedom will deter would-be murderers and for those who try, they will be met with resistance.

Mr. President, do the right thing, restore freedom, and save lives. Show the American people that you stand with them and not with thugs and criminals.

Respectfully,

Severely Concerned Citizen, Evan M. Todd

Teachers Simple Yet Brilliant Invention Could Save Lives During Active School Shooting

June 11, 2014 at 10:13 am

Awesomeness.

(WQAD) –It’s the last thing a teacher wants to have to think about: what to do in case a shooter is in the building.

Mass shootings in the past year like Sandy Hook, and the one at an Oregon high school on Tuesday, have led a few Muscatine middle school teachers to take action, and invent a device that will protect their classrooms.

“The Sleeve” is a 12-gauge carbon steel case that fits around the door’s closer arm, securing the door from the inside. The Sleeve can withstand more than 550 foot-pounds of force, making it nearly impossible to open from the outside.

Daniel Nitzel, a teacher at West Middle School in Muscatine, got the idea from the school’s active shooter training.

“We were instructed to tie a belt or a cord around the closer arm. It seemed like a logical way to secure a door without having to go into the hallway, [but] it took us a long time to get a cord, stand on a chair, and tie a knot, which could potentially be the most important tie of your life.” said Nitzel.

“I can tell you in our training, all five rooms that the teachers were trained in; the doors were breached, the cords were ripped, and the officer who was portraying the active shooter came in and killed all of us,” Nitzel said.

That’s when Nitzel and his colleagues formed the company, Fighting Chance Solutions, and began designing blueprints for The Sleeve. He said it’s been ten months in the making, but they finally have it ready and waiting for patent.

“We look at it as a cheap insurance policy. If you have someone out in the hallway, and you have an active situation, a dangerous situation unfolding and [don't] want to go out into the hallway and lock your door, we want to provide you with a way to close that door,” said Nitzel.

Good Guy With A Gun Kills Thug Holding Gun To His Teen Daughters Head

June 11, 2014 at 9:21 am

hey liberals 2
One less violent thug roaming the streets –GOOD!

SOUTH ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – One suspect is dead and another is in critical condition after allegedly holding a gun to a teen’s head. Police are not saying if they believe this crime was random or targeted. The man who pulled the trigger tells FOX 2 he does not live here with his daughter and her mom and he says he doesn’t know why the two men came to the door.

Police say it began with two men approaching a seventeen year old girl in the street, taking her at gunpoint, and forcing her into her home on Newport near Neosho in the Bevo Mill neighborhood. The girl’s father shot and killed one suspect and injured the other.

It was about 11pm Monday when a 17 year old girl who lives in the home was getting something from her car. Two men, both with guns, grabbed her. The began to push her back into the home with a gun to her head. Her father, who says he was visiting the girl and her mother, saw the gunmen and pulled his own weapon. He says he had no choice but to fire.

“He was holding her hostage. She was a human shield. So I did what I had to do.”

Asked how he had the confidence to pull the trigger when the man was holding his daughter that way, he said, “It wasn’t like that. It just happened. I didn’t have no choice. He had my daughter so I did what I had to do.”
……
The man he shot and killed was Terrell Johnson, 31, of St. Louis. The second suspect, who the father says was wearing a mask, is Cortez McClinton, 33, also of St. Louis.
……
The two suspects were not strangers to police. Terrell Johnson, the dead man, has served time in the Missouri prison system for first degree robbery. He had been given a sixteen year sentence.

Cortez McClinton was charged with first degree murder in the 2010 killing of Brian Reed. Reed was found dead in his car on Minnesota Street in South St. Louis. But in 2012, the circuit attorney’s office says those charges had to be dropped because witnesses wouldn’t cooperate. They ask anyone with any information about that case to contact Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS.

More from CBS St Louis:
The mother got off a shot of her own. She missed, but at least she tried.

Her mother also retrieved a firearm and fired one round at the suspects, not striking them.

The first suspect, identified as 31-year-old Terrell Johnson, of the 4500 block of Natural Bridge, collapsed on the living room floor and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say McClinton then fled the scene on foot, entered Johnson’s vehicle and contacted his brother, who took him to a hospital.

McClinton was treated for gunshot wounds to the chest and both thighs and listed in critical but stable condition.

None of the victims were injured.

The investigation continues, but police say at this point, no charges are being sought against the homeowners.

A judge ordered McClinton be held on a $1,000,000 cash-only bond.

McClinton’s murder charge stems from the death of his accomplice. A spokesman for the circuit attorney’s office tells KMOX News that if someone dies during the commission of a felony—even a suspect—murder charges can be filed. The charge is also known as felony murder.

Police report:

Incident: Homicide

Location: 4600 block of Newport

Date/Time: 6/09/14 @ 23:00

Victim #1: 34-year old black male

Victim #2: 17-year old black female

Victim #3: 34-year old white female

Victim #4: 5-year old black male

Suspect #1: Terrell Johnson, 31-year old black male of the 4500 block of Natural
Bridge (deceased)

Suspect #2: 33-year old black male (critical/stable)

Victim #2 reported she was outside her residence retrieving property from a vehicle when the suspects approached her, armed with guns, and demanded she return to her residence with them. The suspects began to walk Victim #2 back into her residence. Victim #1, who is the father of Victim #2, observed the suspects with his daughter, retrieved his firearm and fired several shots at the suspects, striking both of them as they entered his residence. Victim #3, who is the mother of Victim #2, also retrieved a firearm and fired one round at the suspects, not striking them. Suspect #1 collapsed on the living room floor and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Suspect #2 fled the scene on foot, entered Suspect #1′s vehicle and contacted his brother, who conveyed him to a hospital. Suspect #2 was treated for gunshot wounds to the chest and both thighs and listed in critical/stable condition. At large warrants will be sought for Suspect #2. None of the victims were injured. The investigation is ongoing.

Thank God the father had a gun and knew how to use it.

8 Year Old’s Imagination Penalized For Drawing A Gun He Saw In The Clouds

May 23, 2014 at 8:02 am

8 year old Kody Smith was only doing what he was told and now his imagination has been labeled as ‘disruptive behavior’ by zero tolerance thought control zealots who wet their pants over any depiction of a gun no matter how innocent it may be.

KKTV:

Cloud gun. (Not the cloud Kody saw)

One does not have to stretch their imagination to far to see a gun in this cloud formation. Note: Not the cloud Kody saw.

Second grader Kody Smith was assigned to go outside, look at the clouds, and then use his imagination to draw what he saw.”Draw a picture of what you see in the clouds from your imagination and that picture is a gun,” explained 8-year-old Kody.

Because it was a gun, the teacher at Talbott Elementary in Widefield called him into the office, and then filed a behavior report. His parents say that’s too much.
……
The report says Kody showed behavior that is disruptive to the entire learning community. The parents were worried that this would be on his permanent school record. The Widefield School District says it will not be.

D-3 also sent us this statement: “Our primary responsibility as a school district is to ensure safety of all staff, students and community. We exercised an age-appropriate reaction to an incident. The student’s education was never disrupted nor is this incident on the student’s permanent record. Our response was in line with routine procedures focused on school safety.”

I couldn’t have said this better myself:

(Sane Shackleford) This is the whole point. They are traumatizing children into being terrified of even thinking about a gun. This isn’t an isolated incident. This is standard all over the country. You’re civil rights will all be gone within 20 years.
Eric Holder said he was going to brainwash every single person against their 2nd amendment rights, and this is just proof.
So, teach your kids to shoot. Teach your neighbors, Teach their kids…
It’s up to us to un-fuck America.

Remington Moving 2 Production Lines From NY To Alabama ‘SAFE Act’ Likely To Blame

May 16, 2014 at 7:46 pm

Remington-Arms-Sign
Grabbing guns and killing jobs how positively hopey changey.

(The Buffalo News) –ALBANY – Nearly 200 years after Eliphalet Remington II forged his first rifle in Ilion, residents of the small central New York village are getting the bad news they have feared for more than a year: Remington Arms is moving production of two of its gun lines to Alabama.

While the company did not announce the outright closing of the facility that has been home to Remington since 1816, gun rights advocates said that day is now likely moving closer and they blame the state’s 2013 NY SAFE Act gun control law.

“This could very well be the beginning of the end of Ilion,’’ said Tom King, president of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, the state chapter for the National Rifle Association.

The Buffalo News last September featured Ilion in a story about residents there growing increasingly worried that Remington, the anchor in the village of 8,000 in Herkimer County, was under growing pressure to leave New York since passage of the SAFE Act.

Remington said it will move production of its Bushmaster line of semi-automatic rifles that are no longer legal for the company to sell in New York without modifications. It is also sending work on its popular 1911 R1 pistol.
……
Remington is now at least the third gun company to announce it was moving at least part of their operations since the SAFE Act was passed. One gun maker last fall said a couple dozen states had approached him about moving to their states that they pitched as more “Second Amendment-friendly.” A Finger Lakes gun maker said a couple of state economic development officials visited to see what kind of state assistance could help, months after other states already began wooing the firm.
……
“I wouldn’t doubt it’s SAFE Act-related in a New York minute,’’ he [Tom King, president NY State Rifle and Pistol Association NRA state chapter] said “The company made statements over and over again that when they bought the property in Huntsville, Ala., that having a manufacturing facility in a Second Amendment-friendly area means a lot to them.’’ [...]

(Chicago Tribune) –A Hinsdale Central High School student is challenging a suspension he said he received for wearing to school a T-shirt that depicts an AK-47.

Senior Chris Borg, 18, of Hinsdale, appeared before the Hinsdale Township High School District 86 school board Monday to make the request that the suspension he received on May 6 be removed from his record.

Borg told the board that he wore a T-shirt with the outline of an AK-47 depicted on the back, a url for the website of a Kentucky armory club that supports gun rights and the words “TeamAK” on it. He said the shirt did not identify the gun as an AK-47 in writing.

Borg said he was stopped for wearing it by hall monitors. He said the dean of students, Kimberly Dever, offered him the chance to turn the shirt inside out, wear another shirt or be suspended for the day.

“I decided to go home for the day because I felt it was a infringement of my First Amendment right to freedom of expression,” Borg told the board.

Supt. Bruce Law said the T-shirt is a violation of the dress code outlined in the school’s handbook.

The handbook states that students are subject to disciplinary action when they wear clothing that “is deemed vulgar, inappropriate, unsafe or disruptive to the educational process (e.g., advertising/display of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, sexual innuendo).

Borg said he was told the T-shirt was unsafe and disruptive. [...]

VICTORY:

(Chicago Tribune) –The district will remove the suspension from the record of Chris Borg, 18, a senior who wore a T-shirt depicting an AK-47 to Hinsdale Central High School on May 6, the student said. The shirt also had the words “AKteam” printed on it and the URL for a Kentucky gun club that supports gun rights.
……
“I’m ecstatic,” Borg said of the decision. “I’m happy. I wasn’t trying to push buttons or be provocative. I was just trying to assert my First Amendment rights.”

Supt. Bruce Law said Wednesday the district has “changed its mind about the rectitude” of the suspension that was issued because it was determined that the image of the gun was unsafe and disruptive to the educational process and was not in keeping with the school’s dress code.
……
In the future, Law said the district will try to distinguish between gun-related images that are lawful and do not promote violence and ones that promote violence or illegal activity.

Other images of guns that would be acceptable on clothing would be for branches of the armed services, Law said.

“A lawful activity like a gun club or a military institution is different than an unlawful activity that promotes violence,” Law said. [...]

Wow, logic, common sense and reason –color me shocked.
