GOP Rep. Peter King has been getting a lot of guff for this statement:
“The fact is these people are anarchists. They have no idea what they’re doing out there, they have no sense of purpose other than a basically anti-American tone and anti-capitalist. It’s a ragtag mob basically.
BUT –Surprise, surprise! An Occupy Wall Street leader is an anti-government extremist, whose “main political goal” is to” overthrow the government”.

Brian Phillips is the head of communications for the NYC General Assembly, the group primarily responsible for occupying Wall Street. I learned about him while listening to National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition.” According to NPR, Phillips is “an ex-Marine with a bachelor’s in computer science. Today he is wearing a sock on his head.”
“My political goal,” Phillips says, “is to overthrow the government.”
Note: That’s not some random nut job pulled from his Lyndon LaRouche desk or tricked-out refrigerator box/time machine. That’s the communications director for the whole shebang, and his goal is to overthrow the government.

The reason I bring this up is that I think this is extreme.
“Extreme” is a funny word these days. It’s often used by mainstream news outlets to describe the tea parties and the tea-party-friendly caucus in the GOP.
For instance, when those hotheads in tricorn hats were trying to get the government to borrow slightly less than 40 cents for every dollar Washington spends, the conventional wisdom among enlightened liberals, the Obama administration and the other usual suspects was that they were “extremists.”

Meanwhile, the sock-headed spokesman for the protesters wants to “overthrow the government.”
And yet, if you peruse NexisLexis, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone calling him or his more radical confreres “extremists.”
But wait! There’s more! A major portion of the OWS protesters are “anarchists” and “revolutionaries”, so says an Occupy Wall Street organizer to Al Sharpton.
HARRISON SCHULTZ: I think this is the beginning of a revolution in this country.

A lot of the people that are here [protesting] are, in fact, anarchists, are, in fact, revolutionaries. Putting a revolution, putting a revolutionary change into political terms is very difficult to do because we’re trying to get away from all the problems. And we don’t really want to fix them. It’s revolution, not reform.

Vice President Joe Biden joined House Democrats in lashing tea party Republicans Monday, accusing them of having “acted like terrorists” in the fight over raising the nation’s debt limit, according to several sources in the room.
Biden was agreeing with a line of argument made by Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Pa.) at a two-hour, closed-door Democratic Caucus meeting.
“We have negotiated with terrorists,” an angry Doyle said, according to sources in the room. “This small group of terrorists have made it impossible to spend any money.”
Biden, driven by his Democratic allies’ misgivings about the debt-limit deal, responded: “They have acted like terrorists.”
There is none so blind, as those who will not see …the forest for the trees:
Over the last three weeks, as the world has watched the spectacle of the Zuccotti Park protesters in lower Manhattan, some have been inspired and, in many cases, repulsed at the protesters occupying the park. Since the protests have now garnered the backing from the professional protesters from the AFL-CIO’s 56 unions and the SEIU, as well as implicit and explicit support from the Obama Administration and Democrats, there is more relevance to examining not just what the protesters are protesting but what they are promoting.

Democrats and union bosses who are wholeheartedly embracing the #OccupyWallSt protests should take heed: Under the system being espoused here, there is no place for you. You will be out of office, out of power, a part of the collective hive…a hive without a king or queen.
Tread carefully, Democrats and union bosses, for this is the movement you are promoting and giving legitimacy. You may embrace the call for toppling the capitalist system. Just know, however, you are part of that system and when it crumbles, so too will you.
Occupy Wall Street is a “golden opportunity” for conservatives — ripe for the picking:
Pictures of unwashed youth and probably more hygienic government workers who believe they are owed a living by the rich, which is to say by those who already pay a disproportionate share of federal income taxes, would and should be everywhere in the media.
Liberal news outlets are actually promoting the Occupy protests, blind and deaf to the double standard they are creating compared to their coverage of the Tea Party movement. But just as one can’t be angry at a puppy for peeing on the rug — it’s just what they do — it’s hard to be too angry at the addled “journalists” from whom we have learned to expect so little. Instead, at least in this case, the fact that they are so out of touch as to think that these protests are broadly popular should be used by Republicans to their advantage.
Other than the several dozen viewers of MSNBC, few consumers of TV news will look fondly at these protesters even if they share some anti-banking sentiments. Most viewers would tie the protesters to the Democratic Party and its union backers (almost the only backers the party has left, other than trial lawyers and the unemployed), a connection made much easier by those groups bear-hugging the protesters — and presumably taking a shower afterwards.
In an interview with a New Zealand television station, Mr. Phillips is living proof of Newt Gingrich’s description of the Occupiers: “I regard the Wall Street protests as a natural outcome of a bad education system teaching them really dumb ideas.”
Gingrich is exactly right, as is Herman Cain who called the protests “more anti-capitalism and anti-free market than anything else.” Even with the pro-protester bias in most “mainstream” reporting, Occupy Wall Street should be a golden opportunity for conservatives to show what a “Progressive” mindset really is: barely-tempered socialism and support for beggar-thy-neighbor policies based on a mindset of jealousy and entitlement which is, or at least until relatively recently was, anathema to the American mindset.
Conservatives don’t look this gift horse in the mouth –expose, expose, expose!
