The family resides in Janesville, Wisconsin [Ryan's hometown] which is located in the far southern end of the state, although he is obviously absent a lot doing the people’s business in Washington DC. They are a devout Catholic family who regularly attends mass in the local parish, St. John Vianney’s Catholic Church.

(New York Post) –Carlotta Brett-Pierce brazenly shirked responsibility for the death of her 4-year-old girl, Marchella, who weighed just 18.9 pounds and had a single kernel of corn in her stomach when she died, portraying herself as a “loving and caring mother” overcome by poverty and a lack of smarts.

“I do not accept responsibility for the actual death of my daughter, because in fact, I did not kill her,” Brett-Pierce said defiantly, blaming jurors, the press and her own lawyers for her predicament. “This is a tragedy.”

The skeletal and battered little girl died in September 2010, after enduring a living hell in which she was denied food and strapped with jump ropes to her tiny SpongeBob bed.

“Food, water and basic human parenting would have kept her alive,” [Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice] DiMango said.

But “neglect and apathy” at the hands of her loved ones doomed Marchella — who was a 26-pound “flourishing little girl” when she left an upstate clinic months before her death to go live with her mom in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Once there, the sickly child was force-fed cold and allergy pills and battered, often in front of her brother, Tymel.

“By no means am I a malicious or a vicious person,” she insisted.

“I’m not perfect,” Brett-Pierce whined, saying she lacked the education and money to “care for such a sickly baby.”

The Judge also sentenced the grandmother Loretta Pierce (as pictured above)  five to fifteen years for manslaughter for her role in the death of her granddaughter.

WARWICK, R.I. –It seems another mural at a Rhode Island high school is causing a controversy.

Elizabeth Bierenday, a junior at Pilgrim High School in Warwick, was asked to create a mural for the school.

She sketched a mural that showed the growth of a boy into adulthood. The last image showed a man with a woman and child and wedding rings over their heads.

Bierenday showed the school’s assistant principal the sketches, which were approved.

Some people at the school felt the mural didn’t accurately represent many students at Pilgrim and school officials decided to paint over the right side.

On Friday, Bierenday spoke with John DePetro on WPRO-AM about the mural and said she was told that her original design may be offensive or a religious symbol. [...]

The good news is that school officials have since decided to allow the student to paint her mural –as is.

The mural, still largely in pencil-sketch form, became a subject of debate last week when school officials had the ending painted over because there was some concern that the traditional ending might offend some people with alternative lifestyles. [...]

What were they afraid of? That some LBGT kid or a student from a non-traditional family would turn into a pillar of salt, after having cast his/her eyes upon the mural?

Tebow didn’t exactly preach — instead the pastor of Celebration Church interviewed Tebow. He asked questions ranging from leadership to his famous prayers on the football field.

“I really don’t think I was the first athlete to get on a knee and pray,” Tebow said. “I had the same routine for the last seven years, and this past year they called it ‘Tebowing,’ which I have no idea why.”

A devout Christian, Tebow’s main focus Sunday was his faith.

“Regardless of what happens, I still honor my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, because at the end of the day, that’s what’s important, win or lose,” Tebow said.

Tebow is An NFL quarter back, not passing up the chance to share his faith with willing receivers.

“We need to get back to one nation under God, and be role models for kids,” Tebow said. He went on to say that he hopes one day high school athletes will feel okay getting down on one knee on the football field. [...]

(Daily Mail) –On his way to a family vacation in Disney, the terrified boy, who was in a cast for a broken leg, underwent an invasive pat down and was swabbed for explosive residue.

Despite constant assurances from his father that ‘everything is ok’, he physically trembles with fear and asks his parents to hold his hand.

His outraged father filmed the whole process and it has been posted on YouTube.

(mattonair)– A toddler in a wheelchair is stopped by the TSA at ORD (O’Hare Airport in Chicago) and forced to into a sequestered area. On his way to a family vacation in Disney, this 3 year old boy is in a body cast for a broken leg. Despite assurances from his father that “everything is ok”, he is physically trembling with fear while he watches his two siblings, mother, father, grandfather and grandmother pass through along with everyone else…only to be singled out.

He simply does not understand what is happening and why.
