(Washington Post) –Lawyers for George Zimmerman filed suit today against NBC Universal Media over a well-publicized editing error that portrayed their client in racist terms in his pursuit of Trayvon Martin on a drizzly evening in February.

“NBC saw the death of Trayvon Martin not as a tragedy but as an opportunity to increase ratings, and so to set about the myth that George Zimmerman was a racist and predatory villain,” states the civil complaint in its opening salvo against NBC.

NBC’s editing of the 911 audiotape in the Martin case became a public fixation after the media-monitoring Web site NewsBusters.org noted editing oddities on a “Today” show broadcast March 27.

Here’s how NBC News portrayed the audiotape:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.

The full tape went like this:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black.

Zimmerman thus didn’t volunteer a racial profile of Martin; he was asked to provide it, a point that the lawsuit makes in colorful fashion: “NBC created this false and defamatory misimpression using the oldest form of yellow journalism: manipulating Zimmerman’s own words, splicing together disparate parts of the recording to create illusions of statements that Zimmerman never actually made.”

The suit against NBC alleges four other instances in which NBC-produced shows aired false and defamatory versions of the same events.

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) – A color photograph of George Zimmerman with a bloody, swollen nose taken on the night he shot and killed unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin last February was posted on the Internet on Monday by Zimmerman’s legal defense team.

As the photo began to be circulated widely by the news media, lawyers on both sides disagreed about its significance to the second-degree murder case against Zimmerman.

“It’s not a game changer,” Zimmerman lawyer Mark O’Mara told Reuters. But O’Mara said the photo was significant in that it shows vividly the injuries Zimmerman incurred during his confrontation with Martin at a condominium in the central Florida town on Sanford.

On February 26, Zimmerman, who was a neighborhood watch volunteer, shot and killed 17-year-old Martin who was walking to the home in Sanford where he was staying with his father.

Zimmerman’s murder trial is set for June 2013.

Zimmerman claims he shot Martin in self defense during a struggle.

“Does it really show what happened that night to George? Yes,” O’Mara said.

O’Mara told Reuters that prosecutors in May had given him a grainy black-and-white photocopy of the image which was taken in the back seat of a Sanford police cruiser. O’Mara said he received the digital image from prosecutors after repeated demands by his office and he posted it Monday on Zimmerman’s defense website.

Adding insult to injury, the victim’s mother is the parent who fought and won a legal battle to force the school district to drop the hefty fee students were being charged to ride the bus. She is still in the process of fighting to get the parents reimbursed.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH TV)- A Franklin Township mother of two is demanding answers from Franklin Township Community Schools after a violent video was posted on Facebook.On Friday [August 24, 2012] afternoon Laura Hoagland showed video of her 14-year-old son being attacked by a 15-year-old boy on the school bus.

Hoagland walked 24-Hour-News 8 through the footage. She says her son was pushed, punched, and humiliated for not getting out of a seat on a bus. Her son suffered a bloody nose and had to get several staples in the head.

“Tears came to my eyes,” said Hoagland after watching the video. “I’m angry that someone could do that to another human being.”

A student filmed the fight with a camera phone. The graphic video circulated on Facebook.

24-Hour-News 8 interviewed Hoagland last year after she filed a lawsuit against the Franklin Township Community Schools for charging for busing. She won that fight; now students are able to ride the school bus for free.

“I help to fight to get those buses back,” said Hoagland. “I’m fighting for parents to get reimbursement back, and that includes this boy’s family and that boy.”

In a message whom police believe was left on the video’s Facebook page by the  assailant, the unremorseful thug laughs the assault off.

(WRTV) A message police believe was from the boy who started the fight was posted beneath the Facebook video.”lmao dat lil (expletive) dat wassnt nun i hit him three times nun major yaa-noo,” the posting read.

Proper English Translation: ‘Laugh my ass off, that little (expletive) that wasn’t nothing, I hit him three times. Nothing major.

The punk was arrested.

The boy was arrested on preliminary charges of battery and disorderly conduct. His mother told RTV6 that her son has been suspended from school. [...]

Victim Pat Mahaney, 45, of North College Hill, Ohio

They were “bored” and admitted to authorities that they would of continued the violent assault had neighbors not stepped in. The neighbors intervention likely saved Pat Mahaney’s life.

Sucker punched from behind, then the mob swarmed and struck repeatedly; kicking and punching Pat while he was down.

(New York Daily News) –Six teens were arrested Sunday [August 12, 2012] after beating a man unconscious in a Cincinnati suburb – because they were bored and looking for something to do.

Pat Mahaney, 45, of North College Hill, landed in the hospital after a vicious attack that left him with a black eye and severe internal injuries. He was hurt so badly that his stomach filled with blood that required a tube down his throat to drain.

“I find this whole thing appalling and despicable,” North College Hill Police Chief Gary Foust told the Daily News. Foust added that the 13- and 14-year-old boys were arrogant and that he believes the attack was pre-meditated.

Mahaney was returning home with a six-pack of beer when the juveniles walked by him on the sidewalk in the opposite direction, according to an incident report obtained by the Daily News. The boys then turned around and began to follow him. One punched Mahaney in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground.

The teens then took turns kicking and punching him in the head and face repeatedly, the report said. One of the delinquents took a beer can and threw it at Mahaney’s head. The attack only came to an end when a neighbor, witnessing the attack, intervened and said he was calling the cops.

It did not take long to find the suspects – five were arrested that night, the sixth the next day. They told authorities they only stopped beating Mahaney because neighbors intervened.

All six of the boys were charged with two felonies each – aggravated riot and felonious assault.

Update: Premeditated, ZERO remorse, ZERO hate crime –the victim is white.

(Cincinnati.com) –The first five arrestees were: twin brothers Tyree and Terrell Mizzell, Lamont Champion and Daquan Cain, all 13-year-olds; and Michael E. James, 14.

The sixth and final suspect was arrested Tuesday. His name was not immediately available Wednesday.

All except one have been released from Hamilton County’s juvenile detention center and are on house arrest at their parents’ residences, court officials said.

The teens are scheduled for trial Aug. 24.

“It was a heinous crime but it was not a hate crime,” North College Hill Police Chief Gary Foust said. Several residents called police, noting the suspects are black and inquiring whether Mahaney was specifically targeted because he is white. He was not, the chief said.

But police were struck by how cocky the boys were for their age.

“They were pretty arrogant in the interview with us,” Foust said. “It’s appalling. I think it’s despicable. Thirteen-year-olds ought to be playing basketball, not running the streets looking for ways to entertain themselves at the expense of somebody.” [...]

(The Tribune Democrat) –EBENSBURG — West Hills Regional Police continued to search late Friday for two men who robbed a Lower Yoder Township man Thursday night [July 19, 2012], tied him up and set him on fire.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim, who is believed to be in his 40s.

He was taken to the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh with severe burns, West Hills police Chief Andy Havas said.

The man told police that he was working in his garage in the 100 block of Norton Road when two black men with hoods over their heads entered the garage at about 11 p.m. He said one of the suspects hit him in the back of the head with a handgun.

When the man fell to the floor, they tied him up with an electrical cord and took an undisclosed amount of money.

They then doused him with gasoline and set him afire, Havas said.

The man said he freed himself from the electrical cord, retrieved a garden hose and doused himself with water.

Police are unable to recall a similar crime.

“I can’t recall anything this horrific,” Havas said. [...]

Last night (July, 27, 2012) burn victim 38 year old Vincent Bloom died at the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh, where he was being treated for his injuries.

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a man who was robbed and then set on fire in his [auto repair] garage a week ago has died at a Pittsburgh burn center.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office says 38-year-old Vincent Bloom was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m. Friday at West Penn Burn Center. An autopsy is planned in Cambria County. [...]

The AP article above ‘whites out‘ the race of the murderers. Translation: The victim was white.

Unfortunately, due to the critical nature of the victim’s condition, police were unable to conduct a thorough interview.

“We haven’t been able to interview him due to his current condition,” police Sgt. George Musulin III said. “It was a horrific act.”

Officers removed evidence from the scene and took it to the state police crime lab in Greensburg. Musulin would not say what evidence was taken.

Police spoke briefly with Bloom before he was taken to the hospital.

The robbers fled in an unknown direction.

“There are so many sketchy details,” Musulin said.

Making the task of apprehending the murderous thugs all the more difficult. If you have any information please contact local authorities immediately. The monsters need to be taken off of the streets ASAP, before they can strike again.

Cambria County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robbers.

The victim was a ‘white man’, as posted in this comment on an article in The Tribune Democrat (Johnstown, PA) reporting the death of Vincent Bloom. The commenter is a resident of Johnstown, as was the deceased.

It would appear that last summer’s surge of black on white violence was not an anomaly.

As the onslaught of violence against whites perpetrated by feral racist thugs, continues to accelerate.

A recent incident of violent black on white mob action recounted in this op-ed published in The Columbus Dispatch:

During the 2012 Red, White & Boom celebration, there were dozens of police officers at the fireworks. Most of these officers were clumped in bunches near the Scioto River and simply watched the fireworks along with the hundreds of thousands of spectators.

After the show ended and people started walking back to their cars, things turned violent. A gang of approximately 30 black youths (both male and female) started walking and running down Broad Street and randomly assaulted white people — old people, children, women.

I was first aware of the violence in front of the church at the corner of Third and Broad streets. One block east of there, a man crossed the street through the traffic holding his crying son.

They clearly had been assaulted. When others asked if they were OK, he said, “No, we’re not OK; we got separated from my wife and daughter, and they’re still over there.”

Finally, two Columbus officers were seen slowly walking toward the scene of this violence. At this point, the black youths crossed the street to the opposite side of the officers and started randomly attacking more white people on the north side of Broad Street. I know; I was assaulted by five different youths.

At this time, the police meandered to our side of the street. Some of us went to the officers and said, “Do something, innocent people are getting assaulted right here on Broad Street.”

One officer replied, “We don’t have enough officers.”

After seeing the dozens of officers near the riverfront, I went home feeling this officer’s answer was a poor one.

Clearly, the Columbus Police Division had brought in all the officers it could for this large gathering. Also clearly, they had not formulated a plan to ensure the safety of Columbus residents.

Broad and Third streets are at the heart of Downtown. Thousands of people were walking down these two streets after the fireworks to get back to their cars. Yet, there were no, or embarrassingly few, police officers anywhere to be seen on these streets.

I’m glad the police officers got to see the fireworks and remain safe in numbers, but I wonder if that was the reason we paid them overtime wages for a night’s work.

The police officers remained clustered near the waterfront, yet no one had the vision to spread them out along the exit venues of the event to protect the citizens.

Shame on the Columbus Police Division. Red White and Boo.

(NBC Chicago) –Four Chicago men were charged in an early morning mob attack near Wrigley Field, police said.

Witnesses told police a group of men jumped out of a white stretch limousine at 2 a.m. Sunday on the 3400 block of North Sheffield, about a block south of the stadium, and began beating passersby while others videotaped the attack from the inside the limo.

Three men, ages 22, 27 and 27, were injured, police said. One of the 27-year-old victims was treated for a broken jaw at Illinois Masonic Hospital. The others sustained minor injuries.

Police said four or five other men, including the person filming the incident, fled in the limo.

Police said an officer was slightly injured while taking one of the men into custody. Simmons was charged with resisting a police officer.

Police said there was no indication this was a racially motivated attack, but detectives said they are looking into all possibilities. Police refused to disclose the race of the victims.

The victim Michael Schmidt "And now it's justified for us to be carrying weapons," Schmidt said. "If they are, so should we."

(NBC Chicago) The attack happened at about 11 p.m. Sunday [June 17, 2012] in the 1200 block of West Byron Street. As [Michael] Schmidt gripped his throat, he said his attacker just stood there for several seconds, watching his victim bleed profusely.

“He just had this sneer on his face. I think he was amazed that I didn’t drop to the ground,” Schmidt said.

Paramedics took Schmidt to a nearby hospital where the four-inch gash on his neck was treated with 40 stitches.

Schmidt later met with a police sketch artist who drew up a composite. He described his attacker as a black man about 30 years old who stood about 6 feet, 1 inch or 6 feet, 2 inches tall.  The man was wearing a white T-shirt with black stripes and black shorts.

(The Modesto Bee) –MODESTO — A Modesto man was arrested and charged with a hate crime after reportedly punching a 69-year-old woman in a wheelchair in the face and saying he hated white people.

Officers found the woman in a motorized wheelchair near a bus stop with a black eye and minor lacerations to her face. Her glasses had been broken.

The woman told police she had been waiting for a Modesto Area Express bus when she was approached by Nicholas Velasquez, 29, of Modesto.

Police said Velasquez then punched her in the face with a closed fist without provocation.

Police said he walked away and said, “I hate white people.”

They say that ‘art is in the eye of the beholder‘. When viewing “A Tale Of Two Hoodies” by artist Michael D’Antuono, I behold race baiting tripe.

Inspired by the Trayvon Martin case, this painting symbolizes the travesty of racially profiling innocent children and how present day prejudices affect policy.

The most striking thing about the painting is that even though nearly every aspect of the portrayal is obviously flawed, skewed, or just outright made up, the artist still tries to justify it by calling it symbolism of a larger societal issue.

Again, it’s so extreme you would almost have to assume it’s self-parody, but D’Antuono is convinced that his artwork is not at all racist, but that any responses calling him out on the myriad of things wrong with it are.

Let’s look at a few things just to illustrate exactly how openly racist and bigoted D’Antuono’s work is:

1. D’Antuono pretends a Hispanic man is Caucasian in order to make the painting more provocative.
2. He compares a Hispanic performing ordinary neighborhood watch duties to him being a member of the KKK.
3. D’Antuono ignores the fact that a Hispanic man was brutally attacked in his own neighborhood and was severely injured before the shooting took place.
4. He directly changes the ethnicity of one of the two subjects in a painting that is specifically supposed to function as social commentary about racism, rendering any insightful analysis nearly impossible.
5. He changes the height and weight of Trayvon Martin in order to make him appear as a helpless victim, rather than a 6’3, 160lb high school athlete who just broke someone’s nose and was bashing their head into a concrete sidewalk.
6. D’Antuono stereotypes law enforcement officials as being fat, white, prejudiced murderers, even though there were no police involved in the shooting whatsoever.

More and more, it seems like accusations of racism in the Trayvon Martin case are actually a bizarre form of psychological projection. The accusers actively make up their own reality in order to make the shooting fit their worldview, even when it has been shown that race mattered very little, if at all, when the actual evidence is examined objectively.

D’Antuono’s painting has does much more to expose his own internalized prejudices and bigotry, and unfortunately offers very little of value to the arena of public discourse on the matter, beyond perhaps adding even more evidence of the continuing absurdity of how Zimmerman has been depicted.
