Mozilla; masters of Orwellian doublespeak:

Mozilla’s statement on Brendan Eich’s ouster:

Mozilla prides itself on being held to a different standard and, this past week, we didn’t live up to it. We know why people are hurt and angry, and they are right: it’s because we haven’t stayed true to ourselves.

We didn’t act like you’d expect Mozilla to act. We didn’t move fast enough to engage with people once the controversy started. We’re sorry. We must do better.

Brendan Eich has chosen to step down from his role as CEO. He’s made this decision for Mozilla and our community.

Mozilla believes both in equality and freedom of speech. Equality is necessary for meaningful speech. And you need free speech to fight for equality. Figuring out how to stand for both at the same time can be hard.

Our organizational culture reflects diversity and inclusiveness. We welcome contributions from everyone regardless of age, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender-identity, language, race, sexual orientation, geographical location and religious views. Mozilla supports equality for all.

We have employees with a wide diversity of views. Our culture of openness extends to encouraging staff and community to share their beliefs and opinions in public. This is meant to distinguish Mozilla from most organizations and hold us to a higher standard. But this time we failed to listen, to engage, and to be guided by our community.

While painful, the events of the last week show exactly why we need the web. So all of us can engage freely in the tough conversations we need to make the world better.

We need to put our focus back on protecting that Web. And doing so in a way that will make you proud to support Mozilla.

What’s next for Mozilla’s leadership is still being discussed. We want to be open about where we are in deciding the future of the organization and will have more information next week. However, our mission will always be to make the Web more open so that humanity is stronger, more inclusive and more just: that’s what it means to protect the open Web.

We will emerge from this with a renewed understanding and humility — our large, global, and diverse community is what makes Mozilla special, and what will help us fulfill our mission. We are stronger with you involved.

Thank you for sticking with us.

Surprise! Surprise! There is much hypocrisy afoot within the higher echelon of OKCupid:
sam yagan okcupid cofounder match dot com ceo donated to anti gay candidate

2. Sam Yagan is the co-founder of OkCupid and CEO of Match.com, OkCupid’s parent company. He certainly approved OkCupid’s actions, and his twitter stream shows numerous statements confirming his approval and, later, support of Eich’s forced resignation.

3. And yet Sam Yagan made a $500 donation to U.S. Congressman Chris Cannon in 2004.

4. Cannon has a special kind of hate for gays.

The Human Rights Campaign gave him a 0% rating on supporting gay rights.

He voted no on prohibiting job discrimination based on sexual orientation.

He voted for a ban on gay adoptions.

And he supported a constitutional amendment defining marriage as man/woman only.

UPDATE: Left leaning Mother Jones reports on OKCupid’s hypocrisy.

Of course, it’s been a decade since Yagan’s donation to Cannon, and a decade or more since many of Cannon’s votes on gay rights. It’s possible that Cannon’s opinions have shifted, or maybe his votes were more politics than ideology; a tactic by the Mormon Rep. to satisfy his Utah constituency. It’s also quite possible that Yagan’s politics have changed since 2004: He donated to Barack Obama’s campaign in 2007 and 2008. Perhaps even Firefox’s Eich has rethought LGBT equality since his 2008 donation. But OkCupid didn’t include any such nuance in its take-down of Firefox. Combine that with the fact that the company helped force out one tech CEO for something its own CEO also did, and its action last week starts to look more like a PR stunt than an impassioned act of protest. (Mother Jones reached out to OkCupid for comment: We’ll update this post if we receive a response.)

‘Coalition of African American Pastors’ Call For Holder’s Impeachment [VIDEO]

February 25, 2014 at 2:06 pm

(CNSNews.com) – A coalition of black pastors announced on Tuesday at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. that they are launching a campaign to gather one million signatures on a petition calling for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder for violating his oath of office by trying “to coerce states to fall in line with the same-sex ‘marriage’ agenda.”

“President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder have turned their backs on the values the American people hold dear, values particularly cherished in the black community: values like marriage, which should be strengthened and promoted, rather than weakened and undermined,” says a statement by the Coalition of African American Pastors that has been posted online with their impeachment petition.

“Our nation calls for the building up of a healthier marriage culture; instead, our elected leaders are bent on destroying marriage, remaking it as a genderless institution and reorienting it to be all about the desires of adults rather than the needs of children,” says the coalition.

“In pursuing this intention, the president and his administration are trampling the rule of law.Attorney General Holder in particular has used the influence of his office and role as the chief law enforcement figure in our nation to try to coerce states to fall in line with the same-sex ‘marriage’ agenda,” says the coalition. Millions of voters in 30 states have voted to defend marriage as the union of one man and one woman, but Attorney General Holder is attempting single-handedly to throw those votes away!

“For abandoning the oath he swore in taking office and his duty to defend the common good, Attorney General Holder should be impeached by Congress,” says the coalition. “CAAP is calling on all men and women of good will to sign the following petition urging Congress to take action against the Attorney General’s lawlessness today!”

Mock Outrage: Dear Janet Mock, Self Identity Does Not Trump Reality

February 6, 2014 at 11:18 am

Damn you Janet Mock for forcing me come to the defense of the loathsome Piers Morgan, but fair is fair.

The Piers Morgan – Janet Mock interview which was the catalyst of Janet’s Twitter attacks on Piers.
YouTube Preview Image

A heated CNN debate on the controversy:

Nail meet head.

(The Blaze) –CNN’s Piers Morgan, who considers himself an advocate for the transgender community, was attacked relentlessly on social media after he said author and transgender activist Janet Mock was at one point a “boy” during his interview with her on Tuesday [2/5/14].

After a follow-up interview with Mock on Wednesday, Morgan invited a panel of guests, including TheBlaze’s Amy Holmes to debate whether what he said was offensive or factually incorrect.

Holmes said she attempted to gain a better understanding of why Mock was so offended by talking to two people who accompanied the woman to Wednesday’s interview.

“I said, ‘basically, the contention is that Janet never wants to be referred to as ever having been a boy because from her point of view she was always a girl,’” Holmes said. “And the answer was: ‘Correct.’”

“But it seemed like it was really more of a semantic issue here because the one and only reason why she is on this show, has written a book, is getting national attention was because she was born with male genitalia, went through surgery and is now female,” she added. “And that’s, frankly, a pretty sensational thing to go through in life.” [...]

The aforementioned Twitter Blow back:

Illogical! Janet “I was not formerly born a man” Mock was according to him/her was quote; born a boy. He did not undergo ‘gender reassignment’ surgery until he was 18, he  may not have been a full grown man but plenty old enough to be out on his own and to have the surgery, and most def he was ‘formerly a male’ before his ‘sex change’ operation. #Redefiningrealness? More like #RedefiningReality.

Charles-Janet is a surgically deformed male with mutilated genitalia; the result of radical cosmetic surgery, pretending to be a female. Neither male or female, but somewhere in between, a genitalia purgatory if you will. If paying several thousand dollars to have a Dr mutilate your body is not an act of mental illness, then what is? I do not care what anyone says, that’s twisted sistah.

His personal choice. But to DEMAND that the entire world refer to he/she as he/she would prefer to be referred to as is wrong, wrong, wrong. Ask sure, but to demand –oh hell no.

Charles-Janet you may not like it, you can stomp your feet, launch an epic hissy fit by screaming like a banshee; ‘stop misgendering me!’, which is well within your rights, but like it or not Charles-Janet people have the right to say as they please. Being born a male who wanted to be a female does not make you special. It makes you different than most, but hardly special.

Most of all it does not automatically place you on some lofty pedestal with the power to control the thoughts and speech of others. PERIOD. It makes you a tyrannic bitch with delusions of grandeur.

Everyone has the right to be offended, but no one has the right to not be offended. God given free will and the constitutionally protected right to free speech both trump the right to be offended. When it comes to labels, no one has the right to dictate to others how they should refer to transgenders as if it were written into law.  No one has the right to demand the acceptance of others. PERIOD.

Inane nonsense:

He/she has went from being a victim to being a bully.

He/she has went from being an intolerable to becoming the intolerant.

Transphobic? No. Transpity. Yes.

16 Yr Old ‘Transgender’ Male Charged With Battery After Physically Attacking Alleged Female Teen ‘Bullies’

January 10, 2014 at 1:22 pm

[He] threw the first punch, yet [he] believes [he] deserves immunity ie: ‘transgender preferential treatment’ from [his] disproportionate response of physical violence  … ’cause words hurt.

“It sucks,I really want … like, the charges against me to be dropped.”
~Jewlyes Gutierrez
Bottom line: Underneath the oh so adorable sweater skirt ensemble is a boy’s body fast becoming the body of a man.

(NY Daily News) –A 16-year-old transgender student who claims to have been bullied by fellow students for years now faces criminal charges over a fight that left the other three teens simply suspended.

It was allegedly after two years of relentless bullying over her [his] sexuality by students at California’s Hercules High School that Jewlyes Gutierrez says she [he] snapped and finally fought back.

Cell phone video capturing the resulting Nov. 15 fight shows four girls scratching and pulling each other’s hair before Jewlyes is seen trying to run away.

When it ended all four students were suspended, the Contra Costa Unified School District confirmed, but it’s only Jewlyes who 10 days later was charged with battery by the district attorney. [...]

Interesting, Jewlyes has the balls to prance around [his] high school campus dressed as a girl but doesn’t have the balls to ignore non-physical taunting.

Sticks and stones Jewlyes, sticks and stones.

Words to live by: Keep your hands to yourself unless you have been physically attacked, or suffer the consequences. Gay, straight or whatever…

If we apply the twisted logic that Jewlyes defenders are applying a bullied teen who goes on a shooting rampage at his/her high school should be forgiven because he was bullied. It is a worse case scenario, but it is still the same twisted logic.

A Clear and Present Danger: The Threat to [Christian] Religious Freedom In The Military

January 4, 2014 at 7:57 am

Satan’s handiwork.

satan-clipart2In the video below, members of our Armed Forces speak out about the culture of fear and intimidation in the US military that is forcing Christian soldiers to hide their faith.

This is happening despite the fact that, since its inception, America has been considered a Christian Nation.

The overwhelming percentage of the men and women who currently serve in uniform are Christian. And an overwhelming percentage of those who have died in defense of our country were Christian.

The attacks on Christianity in the military have caused the Bible to be banned from military hospitals, chaplains to be deemed non-essential, prayer to be banned from military funerals and soldiers to be dismissed for voicing their Christian beliefs about homosexual marriage.

The attack on the religious freedom of Christians in the military is a warning for us all of what is coming if we do not stop it now.

Join the battle.

A Clear and Present Danger: The Threat to Religious Liberty in the Military

December 12, 2013 Edition

By Jerry Boykin Executive Vice President

The Armed Forces of the United States have defended this nation for well over two and a quarter centuries. The soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen, and Coast Guardsmen who have been injured, wounded, and killed in defense of our country often have been very committed to their faith in God. Should it be surprising that those who face serious injury and death so regularly might focus more consciously on matters of eternity? It seems only natural that the gravity of military life should lead to serious consideration of spiritual matters.

Military life is hard and dangerous. It requires a level of focus and endurance – physical, mental, and spiritual – that simply is not required of many other occupations. Consequently, one would expect that those who pursue a military life must attain to a higher level of self-discipline than their civilian counterparts.

In this, as in many areas of life, George Washington is a towering example of what it means to be a great soldier in a republic.Washington was extremely disciplined and deeply religious. These traits were not merely coincidental. Rather, they were self-reinforcing. So it is with members of the modern Armed Forces. Religious conviction is not merely an add-on belief, it is like a strand in a rope that complements the others while greatly increasing strength.

Military life in the United States has always had a strong religious component for the reasons given above but also, as Alexis de Tocqueville noted, because Americans have been and continue to be a genuinely religious people. Rather than being divisive, the strong religious presence in the United States military has had a unifying effect. In the times of greatest peril to life and limb, it is a great comfort to know that many of those with whom your life is entrusted share a commitment to each other, to the United States, and to God. Simply put, devotion to moral principles derived from a Higher Power allows for a greater level of trust to exist among members of the military.

Therefore, it is with great unease that we at the Family Research Council (FRC) have noted a growing hostility to religion within the armed services in the last decade. Unfortunately, pressures to impose a secular, anti-religious culture on our nation’s military services have intensified tremendously during the Obama Administration. This pressure exists across the armed services, but it has become extremely acute in the United States Air Force (USAF). The Air Force has had the great misfortune to be targeted by anti-Christian activists. Regrettably, some of the highest-level officers within the Air Force appear to be cooperating with this effort, and those in the other military branches are feeling its effects as well.

What follows is a list of discrete events presenting a larger picture of the threat to religious liberty that now exists in America’s armed forces. The examples provided represent only a portion of the concerted efforts to scrub the military of religious expression, through which the chilling effect of punishment and potential career destruction lie at the back of everyone’s mind. He’s Baaaaaack…A&E Reverses Phil Robertson Suspension

December 27, 2013 at 11:07 pm

phil robertson quote media overlooked

Money talks. Bullshit walks.

The Hollywood Reporter:

An A&E statement to The Hollywood Reporter read:

As a global media content company, A+E Networks’ core values are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect. We believe it is a privilege for our brands to be invited into people’s homes, and we operate with a strong sense of integrity and deep commitment to these principles.

That is why we reacted so quickly and strongly to a recent interview with Phil Robertson. While Phil’s comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the “coarse language” he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would “never incite or encourage hate.” We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article and reiterate that they are not views we hold.

But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man’s views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family … a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about.

So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.

We will also use this moment to launch a national public service campaign (PSA) promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company and the values found in Duck Dynasty. These PSAs will air across our entire portfolio.

duck dynasty robertson family potrait

Duck Dynasty Robertson family portrait

Some feel that the Robertson’s should leave A&E and teach them a lesson. I disagree, as this is a precedent setting tipping point. A&E has decided against sacrificing their cash cow on the altar of political correctness. Their ill advised suspension of Phil and their complete 180 all played out in the national public arena. God’s word has forced A&E to correct their mistake. And they have had to publicly admit it.

Sure money may have played a part in the decision, but why is Duck Dynasty a mega money making machine? Because as A&E stated; “It resonates with a large audience.” Why does it resonate with a large audience? Because the Robertson family fearlessly cling to their guns and their [religion]. A god fearing, gun toting family that “resonates with a large audience” fancy that! If Duck Dynasty was a low ratings nightmare the militant gays at GLAAD would not have given them a second thought.

Patriarch Phil has found an unlikely pulpit on A&E (Arts and Entertainment). And as a show “with an average 13.4 million viewers and 7.6 million adults 18-49 in live-plus-7 ratings” (according to THR), Phil’s pulpit reaches far and wide. Meanwhile A&E is supping on crow and licking it’s self inflicted wounds. Victims of their own spotlight. And GLAAD has been taught a valuable lesson in that push has come to shove. The silent majority is no longer silent. And as karma would have it they have a front row seat to a cultural shift they themselves have a hand in cultivating. The sting of defeat is theirs.

And that my friends is a HUGE victory.

Fox News’ Todd Starnes shared an exclusive statement from the Robertson family on Facebook:

In Suspending Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson Did A&E Violate The ‘Civil Rights Act Of 1964′?

December 20, 2013 at 5:29 pm

i support phil robertson
First a recap of A&E’s statement regarding their decision to place Phil Robertson on “indefinite hiatus”:

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

Rush on the discrimination factor:

YouTube Preview Image

(Excerpt beginning at the 2:54 mark)

RUSH: But I do love what the gay rights group, GLAAD, did.  GLAAD wrote to A&E commending them for firing Robertson, they said.  And I quote, “By taking quick action and removing Robertson from future filming, A&E has sent a strong message that discrimination is neither Christian nor an American value.”

Now, excuse me for just a second here, but who is being discriminated against here except Phil Robertson?  Who just lost a job because of religious beliefs?  Phil Robertson.  Nothing happened anybody at GLAAD.  Nothing happened to any gay people or homosexual people.  Nothing happened to them.  He says what he says in GQ.  He ends up getting fired, and GLAAD starts running around talking about, “We’re not gonna put up with this kind of discrimination.”  Well, then you better start demanding he be rehired, because he’s the only guy that’s been discriminated against, if you ask me.

A little further into his program Rush again addressed the subject of ‘discrimination’ against Phil:

YouTube Preview Image

RUSH: The Human Rights Campaign has slammed Phil Robertson by saying, “We know that being gay is not a choice that someone makes and that to suggest otherwise can be incredibly harmful.”  But substitute “heterosexual” for gay and see how it sounds.  We know that being heterosexual is not a choice someone makes, and that to suggest otherwise could be incredibly harmful.  Well, Phil Robertson didn’t make the choice to be a heterosexual, so why attack him for talking like one?  If you turn this stuff all around, it’s an interesting perspective.

Now, I had a lot of people e-mail me when they first heard about this, and they were wringing their hands.  The said, “Well, Rush, the liberals win again.  We had this great show, this great family down there, the Robertson family, got their duck call business, Duck Dynasty, and why do people on our side keep talking to the liberal media?  Why would Phil Robertson, who doesn’t care about the way he looks, do an interview in GQ?  Why, Rush, why?  Can you explain this to me, Rush?  ‘Cause the liberals have won again.  A&E has shut up Phil for quoting the Bible and offering a rather obvious opinion on why straight men love women.”  I mean, he kind of nailed that, if you want to know the truth about it.

No, I’m not gonna get into repeating it here, but he offered a pretty straightforward reason why straight guys like women.  It made perfect sense.  But then that’s why I started looking into this.  I’m not so sure, folks, and it’s too soon to know, but I’m not so sure that this is a loss, in the traditional sense.  I’m not so sure this is a loss like it would be with the Republican Party caving doing something stupid and then begging forgiveness or any of that.

Phil Robertson never did anything to anybody, and he still hasn’t done anything to anybody.  He’s the only one that’s been really discriminated against here.  He lost his gig at the Duck Dynasty show.

Read the full transcript here.

BTW yours truly called it ahead of Rush:

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. SEC. 2000e-2. [Section 703]

(a) Employer practices

It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer -

(1) to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual’s race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

Make no mistake, the attack on Phil Robertson is a cold calculated attack on Christianity as a whole, and heterosexuals in general. Making A&E, GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign (if one were to use their phobic lexicon against them) both Christianophobic and Heterophobic.

Double BOOM!

Chew on that anti-Christians.

VH out.
