Victims, what victims? All that matters is that heinous crimes are quashed internally. Taking preemptive steps to encourage the sweeping under the rug of reports of women being sexually assaulted by their fellow revolutionaries. Preventing public relations nightmares at all costs, is the name of this twisted game.

(Baltimore Sun) –Efforts by the Occupy Baltimore protest group to evolve into a self-contained, self-governing community have erupted into controversy with the distribution of a pamphlet that victim advocates and health workers fear discourages victims of sexual assaults from contacting police.
The pamphlet says that members of the protest group who believe they are victims or who suspect sexual abuse “are encouraged to immediately report the incident to the Security Committee,” which will investigate and “supply the abuser with counseling resources.”
The directive also says, in part, “Though we do not encourage the involvement of the police in our community, the survivor has every right, and the support of Occupy Baltimore, to report the abuse to the appropriate authorities.”
Despite this caveat, the heads of three rape crisis centers and a nurse who runs the forensic division at Mercy Medical Center called the message about not involving police dangerous. They said it contains erroneous information that could undermine efforts to convince victims to properly report crimes and get the counseling they need.
“It might actually passively prevent someone from seeking justice,” said Jacqueline Robarge, the executive director of Power Inside, a nonprofit support group that helps women who have been victimized.
The hodgepodge of anti-establishment activists who have erected a tent city at the Inner Harbor as part of the broader Occupy Wall Street movement are trying to develop their own rules of conduct, developed through committees and approved by a general assembly.
“I understand that they want to transform themselves,” Robarge said. “But they have to do that in the context of our culture and community. … We’re talking about people’s lives here.”
The “security statement” appears to be one of several attempts to govern what the memo calls “our newly forming, delicate yet strong community.”
A spokeswoman, Jessica Lewis, a 31-year-old publicist, said the statement “in no way discourages people to contact the police.” But she said Occupy Baltimore, now entering its third week, is “trying to be a self-contained community and deal with conflicts internally as much as possible.”

Lewis said there have been no reports of sexual assaults or rapes at the Baltimore protest site. But she said that members of the “security committee” have mediated several disputes involving allegations of sexual harassment.

But it is all fine and dandy when clusters of commie-marxist-rabble rousing revolutionaries ‘form self-contained communities’ in which ‘ involvement of the police is not encouraged‘. RED FLAG!

New evidence emerging from the digital messaging board of Occupy Baltimore indicates that sexual and verbal harassment of women at the camp has been a widely discussed problem for nearly two weeks. Several women who have visited the camp report being harassed, including sexually inappropriate language and touching. Despite this, other group members continued to suggest that group problems be handled internally, even stating that calling the police on someone is a “violent act.” In addition, those making complaints are warned to be careful what they say on public forums lest the information fall into the hands of the media.
Once you join the ranks of occupy stank, you are no longer an individual, you become a member of the ‘collective’ hive, and shall act accordingly. Thinking and speaking for yourself is verboten. But hey! It is all for the ‘common good’. Suck it up comrades!

They’re setting up their own court system here, where the ultimate punishment, no matter the severity of the offense, is banishment from a tent city. This is sexual assault we’re talking about here, not taking someone’s cupcake out of their lunch in the fridge.

It’s rather disturbing that this group of semi-organized (at best) amateurs would set up a parallel, internal system of justice that discourages involving law enforcement like they were their own country.

The sort of unrest seen in the anti-Wall Street movement comes directly out of Alinsky’s secular bible called Rules for Radicals.
Alinsky hardly was squeamish about using filth to get his way. “If your organization is too tiny even for noise, stink up the place.” Later, he gave a fictitious but oh-so-literal example of one way to do it: He suggested that protesters gorge on beans before occupying a public building so that their — uh, their natural emissions — would literally create a stench. “In a fight almost anything goes,” he wrote. “It almost reaches the point where you stop to apologize if a chance blow lands above the belt.” Alinsky openly and exuberantly belittled the notion of ethics. All that mattered, he said, was whether your side is losing or winning. Only afterwards do you try to find an excuse for your illicit behavior: “The tenth rule of the ethics of means and ends is that you do what you can with what you have and [then] clothe it with moral garments.”
Critics have noted that the protesters often can’t even define what they are protesting, or that their “issues” are such a diverse hodgepodge as to be unintelligible. Again, this is straight from Alinsky’s playbook. The organizer, he wrote, “should search for and use the wrong reasons to achieve the right goals. He should be able, with skill and calculation, to use irrationality in his attempts to progress to a rational world. For a variety of reasons the organizer must develop multiple issues…. Multiple issues mean constant action and life.”
