(Washington Post) –Lawyers for George Zimmerman filed suit today against NBC Universal Media over a well-publicized editing error that portrayed their client in racist terms in his pursuit of Trayvon Martin on a drizzly evening in February.

“NBC saw the death of Trayvon Martin not as a tragedy but as an opportunity to increase ratings, and so to set about the myth that George Zimmerman was a racist and predatory villain,” states the civil complaint in its opening salvo against NBC.

NBC’s editing of the 911 audiotape in the Martin case became a public fixation after the media-monitoring Web site NewsBusters.org noted editing oddities on a “Today” show broadcast March 27.

Here’s how NBC News portrayed the audiotape:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.

The full tape went like this:

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black.

Zimmerman thus didn’t volunteer a racial profile of Martin; he was asked to provide it, a point that the lawsuit makes in colorful fashion: “NBC created this false and defamatory misimpression using the oldest form of yellow journalism: manipulating Zimmerman’s own words, splicing together disparate parts of the recording to create illusions of statements that Zimmerman never actually made.”

The suit against NBC alleges four other instances in which NBC-produced shows aired false and defamatory versions of the same events.

Detroit --(Ammoland.com)- This past Saturday, the anachronistic and increasingly irrelevant Reverend Jesse Jackson called for an anti-violence rally against 25 gun ranges in the United States. Despite his personal indiscretions, he somehow felt justified to ask dads during Fathers Day Weekend all across our great nation to adopt his mantra of “Guns Out = Jobs In.”

According to the puzzling logic of Jackson, the local communities where the targeted gun shops operate are stifling the creation of jobs, which if you believe Jackson, is the root cause of urban violence. Somehow, Jackson manages to ignore the fact that these gun ranges employ people, including African Americans like myself, who pay taxes. Also, those very same businesses pay income taxes and collect sales taxes on relatively expensive products.

The dirty little secret is that there are no operating gun ranges within the geographical borders of Detroit. He obviously chose Action Impact because it is located just outside the city of Detroit border. Thusly, the entire premise of Jackson’s anti-gun campaign has been proven to be false. As mentioned earlier, there are no gun shops in Detroit. So, where are the jobs?

….Jackson’s designated minion, the Operation Push Detroit Chairman, and two other people doubling as props were given a most proper reception from about 50 freedom and gun loving folks of all hues.

They say that ‘art is in the eye of the beholder‘. When viewing “A Tale Of Two Hoodies” by artist Michael D’Antuono, I behold race baiting tripe.

Inspired by the Trayvon Martin case, this painting symbolizes the travesty of racially profiling innocent children and how present day prejudices affect policy.

The most striking thing about the painting is that even though nearly every aspect of the portrayal is obviously flawed, skewed, or just outright made up, the artist still tries to justify it by calling it symbolism of a larger societal issue.

Again, it’s so extreme you would almost have to assume it’s self-parody, but D’Antuono is convinced that his artwork is not at all racist, but that any responses calling him out on the myriad of things wrong with it are.

Let’s look at a few things just to illustrate exactly how openly racist and bigoted D’Antuono’s work is:

1. D’Antuono pretends a Hispanic man is Caucasian in order to make the painting more provocative.
2. He compares a Hispanic performing ordinary neighborhood watch duties to him being a member of the KKK.
3. D’Antuono ignores the fact that a Hispanic man was brutally attacked in his own neighborhood and was severely injured before the shooting took place.
4. He directly changes the ethnicity of one of the two subjects in a painting that is specifically supposed to function as social commentary about racism, rendering any insightful analysis nearly impossible.
5. He changes the height and weight of Trayvon Martin in order to make him appear as a helpless victim, rather than a 6’3, 160lb high school athlete who just broke someone’s nose and was bashing their head into a concrete sidewalk.
6. D’Antuono stereotypes law enforcement officials as being fat, white, prejudiced murderers, even though there were no police involved in the shooting whatsoever.

More and more, it seems like accusations of racism in the Trayvon Martin case are actually a bizarre form of psychological projection. The accusers actively make up their own reality in order to make the shooting fit their worldview, even when it has been shown that race mattered very little, if at all, when the actual evidence is examined objectively.

D’Antuono’s painting has does much more to expose his own internalized prejudices and bigotry, and unfortunately offers very little of value to the arena of public discourse on the matter, beyond perhaps adding even more evidence of the continuing absurdity of how Zimmerman has been depicted.

As an aside, this blasphemous D’Antuono painting titled “The Truth”; of Obama with arms outstretched and wearing a crown of thorns is particularly disgusting.

This public death threat against George Zimmerman by New Black Panther Chairman Mikhail Muhammad, was conveniently omitted on CNN’s report.

As a community activist and chief of staff for the New Black Panther Party, Michelle is used to addressing many issues.  But when it comes to her passion in the Trayvon Martin case, she get especially upset and tearful.

Through tears, she said, “If my words, my words that I had to say out of anger will make the American people address this issue, let it be my time, Melanie. Let it be my time to address this issue with America, that we say enough is enough. We can’t have any more killings.”

Michelle is now offering an apology for her controversial comments.

She spoke openly, “My words were out of anger. I did not incite, I did not promote, nor did I encourage anyone to go and pick up a gun.”

In a candid moment during her 10 News interview, she said, “Do I want to see George Zimmerman dead? No. Do I want to see him brought to justice? Hell yes.”Michelle assured us that she doesn’t want to have anyone out there pick up a gun. “I don’t want violence, I don’t promote violence. That’s why I told you, my words were out of anger.”

It’s to late, you vile excuse for a human being, you’ve already let the incitement cat out of the bag.

(Gainesville Sun) –Police are investigating the “racially motivated” beating of a 27-year-old man who was walking home from midtown bars early Saturday [April 7, 2012] when he said he was jumped by five to eight men who shouted “Trayvon” before the attack.

The exclamation was an apparent reference to Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old from Miami who was shot and killed in February walking back to his father’s girlfriend’s house in Sanford [Florida].

Investigators believe that case was the catalyst for the beating Saturday in Gainesville.

“We do believe that the crime was racially motivated,” Gainesville Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Angelina Valuri said.

The assailants were black, while the victim is white, Valuri said.

Valuri said his injuries were consistent with being jumped by a group.

During what he told police was a five-minute beating, he sustained injuries to the left eye, abrasions to his palms and a cut on his right kneecap, and Valuri said he would likely have “permanent disfigurement to the left side of his face.”

He was taken to Shands at the University of Florida for treatment.

I not only sent it to conservatives and libertarians by attaching the hashtags; #tcot #ocra #teaparty and #tlot, but to progressives as well, by including the prog tags #p2 & #p21. At last count, it has been retweeted 25 times. Retweets from progressives, are next to none. How dissapointing. Though in all fairness, there are a couple of retweets from accounts that may not have been from conservative tweeps. But, it is safe to say that overall 99% of the RT’s were from conservatives.
