In Suspending Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson Did A&E Violate The ‘Civil Rights Act Of 1964′?

First a recap of A&E’s statement regarding their decision to place Phil Robertson on “indefinite hiatus”:

“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

Rush on the discrimination factor:

(Excerpt beginning at the 2:54 mark)

RUSH: But I do love what the gay rights group, GLAAD, did.  GLAAD wrote to A&E commending them for firing Robertson, they said.  And I quote, “By taking quick action and removing Robertson from future filming, A&E has sent a strong message that discrimination is neither Christian nor an American value.”

Now, excuse me for just a second here, but who is being discriminated against here except Phil Robertson?  Who just lost a job because of religious beliefs?  Phil Robertson.  Nothing happened anybody at GLAAD.  Nothing happened to any gay people or homosexual people.  Nothing happened to them.  He says what he says in GQ.  He ends up getting fired, and GLAAD starts running around talking about, “We’re not gonna put up with this kind of discrimination.”  Well, then you better start demanding he be rehired, because he’s the only guy that’s been discriminated against, if you ask me.

A little further into his program Rush again addressed the subject of ‘discrimination’ against Phil:

RUSH: The Human Rights Campaign has slammed Phil Robertson by saying, “We know that being gay is not a choice that someone makes and that to suggest otherwise can be incredibly harmful.”  But substitute “heterosexual” for gay and see how it sounds.  We know that being heterosexual is not a choice someone makes, and that to suggest otherwise could be incredibly harmful.  Well, Phil Robertson didn’t make the choice to be a heterosexual, so why attack him for talking like one?  If you turn this stuff all around, it’s an interesting perspective.

Now, I had a lot of people e-mail me when they first heard about this, and they were wringing their hands.  The said, “Well, Rush, the liberals win again.  We had this great show, this great family down there, the Robertson family, got their duck call business, Duck Dynasty, and why do people on our side keep talking to the liberal media?  Why would Phil Robertson, who doesn’t care about the way he looks, do an interview in GQ?  Why, Rush, why?  Can you explain this to me, Rush?  ‘Cause the liberals have won again.  A&E has shut up Phil for quoting the Bible and offering a rather obvious opinion on why straight men love women.”  I mean, he kind of nailed that, if you want to know the truth about it.

No, I’m not gonna get into repeating it here, but he offered a pretty straightforward reason why straight guys like women.  It made perfect sense.  But then that’s why I started looking into this.  I’m not so sure, folks, and it’s too soon to know, but I’m not so sure that this is a loss, in the traditional sense.  I’m not so sure this is a loss like it would be with the Republican Party caving doing something stupid and then begging forgiveness or any of that.

Phil Robertson never did anything to anybody, and he still hasn’t done anything to anybody.  He’s the only one that’s been really discriminated against here.  He lost his gig at the Duck Dynasty show.

Read the full transcript here.

BTW yours truly called it ahead of Rush:

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. SEC. 2000e-2. [Section 703]

(a) Employer practices

It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer -

(1) to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual’s race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

Make no mistake, the attack on Phil Robertson is a cold calculated attack on Christianity as a whole, and heterosexuals in general. Making A&E, GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign (if one were to use their phobic lexicon against them) both Christianophobic and Heterophobic.

Double BOOM!

Chew on that anti-Christians.

VH out.

REMIND Them A Vote For Cloture Is A Vote To Fund Obamacare

Senate Republican Whip List

Harry Reid plans to use a procedural trick to fund Obamacare with only 50 votes, but first he needs 6 Republican votes on “cloture” to approve the process.

Tell the Republicans to OPPOSE cloture to stop Harry Reid’s plan to fund Obamacare. Tell them a vote for cloture is a vote to fund Obamacare.

NOTE: Some Republicans may say a vote for cloture is a vote against Obamacare. It is not. If cloture were truly a vote against Obamacare, the Democrats wouldn’t be supporting it. Cloture will allow the Democrats to fund Obamacare.

Grassroots Phone Calls to Senate Republicans

Current as of 09/26/2013 at 11:57AM

Sample Call Script

Hi, this is ________ ________ and I’m calling to urge Senator ________ to OPPOSE “cloture” on the continuing resolution (CR) to stop Harry Reid’s trick plan to fund Obamacare with only 50 votes.

Is Senator ________ going to vote against cloture? …

I strongly oppose Obamacare and I hope the senator will stand with Mike Lee and Ted Cruz and oppose cloture so the Democrats can’t fund it. We must stop the implementation of Obamacare and there are millions of Americans counting on the senator to stand strong.

Will you please pass my message on to the senator? …

Background Information

  • The House passed a bipartisan bill to prevent a government shutdown and to defund Obamacare so it won’t be implemented this year. This House legislation represents the will of the American people and the Senate should approve it.
  • Unfortunately, Harry Reid and the Democrats plan to add Obamacare funding back into the bill using a procedural trick that allows them to fund Obamacare with only 50 votes.
  • Senate Republicans can stop Harry Reid’s plan to fund Obamacare by defeating cloture – a vote on the process that requires 60 votes. If Republicans defeat cloture, they can protect the House bill that defunds Obamacare and pressure Democrats to adopt it.
  • However, if Republicans vote for cloture, Obamacare will be funded and millions of Americans will be forced into a government program that is unaffordable, unworkable, and unfair.
  • A vote for cloture is a vote to fund Obamacare.
  • Don’t let Senate Republicans tell you the vote on cloture is a vote to “defund” Obamacare. It is not. Cloture approves the debate process, not the bill being debated. If cloture were truly a vote to “defund” Obamacare, the Democrats would not be supporting it.

Rush Limbaugh: America in the Midst of a Coup d’Etat [Audio & Transcript]

Rush Limbaugh reacting to the multitude of Obama Scandals, and the newest revelation that Obama’s NSA is collecting phone and internet data on millions of Americans.

What everybody knows and nobody wants to really come to grips with is that we are in the midst of a coup taking place.

Now, I know what’s gonna happen. The people on the other side of the glass: “Will you dial that coup talk back?” That’s all the headlines are gonna be. I don’t care. In fact, it’s almost on par with: “I hope he fails.” How does that sound now, by the way: “I hope he fails”? I’m constantly looking for ways here to persuade people of what I passionately believe, and I’m not in it to lie to anybody. There’s nothing to be gained by lying to you about what I really think. There’s nothing to be gained here by lying about facts. There’s nothing to be gained here by gaining ground under false pretense.

So if the Constitution exists as it is, the country was founded as it was, and an administration comes along and doesn’t like that and is doing everything it can to overturn that Constitution without a convention, doing everything it can to change direction of this country, and what’s the word, transform it, what’s wrong with calling this a coup? “Mr. Limbaugh, a coup is when rebels join forces with the military and start launching military attacks and shooting people.” No, no, no. Not always. And that’s my point.

When I was a kid, my dad kept saying, “Son, if things don’t change, the Soviets are gonna take over this country without firing a shot.” What he was talking about was a coup. Anyway, folks, there’s a lot here to be concerned about. And you know it as well as I do. I get a little perplexed when people that I think see the world as I do and are, in my opinion, on my side, want to come along for reasons I can’t fathom to excuse things that need not be excused. Now, Obama went out there today, he’s in Palm Springs, and he addressed this NSA story. He defended the spy programs as legitimate because Congress has been consistently informed about ‘em. He didn’t get mad, but he sort of complained about all the “hype” over the phone data gathering, because it’s approved by the FISA court. It’s approved by the Congress.

He said (paraphrasing), “Nobody’s listening to your phone calls. They’re looking at megadata,” he meant metadata, “and tracking terrorists. Nobody’s listening to content. Modest encroachments on privacy are worth doing. We’re gonna have to make some choices as a society. You can’t have 100% security and have 100% privacy.” This is what he said today out in Palm Springs. This is the guy, don’t forget, who got elected convincing people that this kind of stuff was never gonna happen anywhere. This is the guy who got elected mischaracterizing the kind of intelligence gathering that was ongoing with the Bush administration.

This is the guy who got elected president by telling us that what is happening now was never going to happen when he was president. This is a guy who got elected telling us in 2007, 2008 that what’s going on now was going on then. Bush was doing this, identical stuff, that’s what they’re trying to tell us, even now. He got elected warning us that what’s happening now was happening in 2007, 2008, and promising us, this was not gonna happen. And everything that was happening in 2007 has only grown. There’s only more of it. It’s more sweeping than it’s ever been.

“The simple answer is that on the range of all 600 radio stations, our ratings are up anywhere from 10 to 60 percent, depending on the station.

And that’s as detailed as I’m going to get. What I mean by that is we could be up 33 percent on one station, 12 percent on another — 60 percent is the top that we’re up on another. We’re up 50 percent in a number of places.

The advertisers who hung in here are going gangbusters, yes. I mean, that’s the simple truth. The only ones who got hurt are the ones who left. And that’s its own tragedy because they left under false, trumped up, unreal pretenses. I don’t want to relive that. I just wanted to answer the question without getting too specific, because everybody’s asking about it.

‘Honor Killing’ Islam’s Violent Barbaric ‘War On Women’

March 22, 2012 at 1:22 pm

While progressives are busy waging a war on free speech in the wake of SlutGate under the guise of targeting Rush Limbaugh, their Islamic allies are continuing their centuries old war on women.

Case in point: The nearly 1,000 women killed in Pakistan this past year alone, in the name of family honor. A number that has risen from the previous year.

“Honor Killing” is Absolutely Islamic! ~ Syed Kamran Mirza (Click to read article)

(Al Arabiya) –At least 943 Pakistani women and girls were murdered last year for allegedly defaming their family’s honor, the country’s leading human rights group said Thursday.

The statistics highlight the growing scale of violence suffered by many women in conservative Muslim Pakistan, where they are frequently treated as second-class citizens and there is no law against domestic violence.

Despite progress on better protecting women’s rights, activists say the government needs to do more to prosecute murderers in cases largely dismissed by police as private, family affairs.

“At least 943 women were killed in the name of honor, of which 93 were minors,” wrote the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan in its annual report.

Seven Christian and two Hindu women were among the victims, it said.

The Commission reported 791 “honor killings” in 2010.

Around 595 of the women killed in 2011 were accused of having “illicit relations” and 219 of marrying without permission.

Some victims were raped or gang raped before being killed, the Commission said. Most of the women were killed by their brothers and husbands.

Surprise! Surprise! Support for Honor Killing is not just found in Muslim majority countries. The majority of Muslim youth in the UK are in support of ‘Honour code, as this recent BBC poll found:

Two-thirds of young British Asians [Muslims] agree that families should live according to the concept of “honour”, a poll for BBC Panorama suggests.

Of 500 young Asians questioned, 18% also felt that certain behaviour by women that could affect her family’s honour justified physical punishment. These included disobeying their father, and wanting to leave an exisiting or prearranged marriage.

The results come as women’s groups call for action to stop “honour” crimes.

The poll, conducted for the BBC by ComRes, interviewed young Asians living in Britain between the ages of 16 and 34. Asked if they agreed that families should live according to “honour”, 69% agreed, a figure that rose to 75% among young men, compared with 63% of young women. [...]
