The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 4 goons are taking systematic union thuggery to a new low.
(Oregon Live) –The National Labor Relations Board accused longshoremen this week of assaulting United Grain Corp. security officers and threatening to rape a manager’s daughter and harm a boss’s children.
In a separate but related filing, Ronald Hooks, NLRB regional director in Seattle, accused United Grain of unfairly locking out union members and unjustly discharging longshoremen who wouldn’t operate equipment they considered unsafe. Both cases involve the Vancouver company’s year-long lockout of dockworkers at its grain export terminal.
The most shocking accusations are contained in Hooks’ case against International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 4 in Vancouver.
After investigating charges filed by the company, Hooks alleged longshore picketers shone spotlights into vehicles entering and exiting United Grain’s terminal, blocking drivers’ vision and causing permanent eye injury to a security officer. Hooks alleged locked-out workers recklessly pursued company vans, threatened to harm Columbia River pilots and pinned a security officer’s leg under a moving vehicle.
Hooks alleged that Local 4 members “threatened to rape the daughter of one of the employer’s managers,” and implied threats to harm a manager’s children by telling him they would “see his children at school” and asking, “are (his) children okay today?”
In Hooks’ case against Local 4, he listed numerous alleged incidents, including an assault on a vendor’s truck, rocks thrown at a security guard and racial slurs made against United Grain’s African American security officers. [...]
“Everybody here just does their job, right?  If you’re working here and in the middle of the day you just stopped and said ‘you know what, I want to get something, but I don’t know exactly what I’m gonna get.  I’m just going to stop working till I get something – I’m just going to shut down the whole plant until I get something’ – You’d get fired, right?
Cuz the deal is, you’ve already gotten hired.  You’ve got a job. You’re getting a paycheck. ..And so you also are getting the pride of doing a good job, and contributing to a business, and looking out for your fellow workers.  That’s what you’re getting.  It shouldn’t be any different for a member of Congress.”
Here’s an interesting bit about this, too – in case you might think the unions will just let this slide and it’s no big deal.
Obama gave this strike-breaking spellbinder at a NON-UNION construction company in Maryland, which is most definitely NOT a Right To Work state. M Luis Construction is a fairly serious Democrat donor, which is obviously why Obama showed up at their place in Rockville, but they’re not a union shop.
So the President of the United States, who has been the recipient of a billion dollars of union largesse, goes to a non-union construction company and says workers who walk off the job in pursuance of demands they might have ought to be fired.
And he gets cheered for saying it at that non-union construction company.
A billion dollars – and what do you get? Besides an Obamacare waiver, that is. You get a repudiation of your most effective negotiating tactic.
We think it’s hilarious. The guess is the Trumkas and Hoffas of the world will be less amused.
In her remarks to an audience at the upscale City Club of Chicago, union boss Karen Lewis strongly criticized Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. She also urged the city schools to follow the strategic blueprint of the Chicago Cubs baseball team.
The upscale ‘City Club of Chicago; fancy smancy! Thank God for the tax dollars of “rich white people”! Why didn’t they meet at a community center or better yet at a school auditorium or gym??? Exactly.
“Members of the status quo — the people who are running the schools and advising the mayor on how to best run our district — know what good education looks like because they have secured it for their own children in well-resourced public and private institutions,â€
When will there be an honest conversation about the poverty, racism and inequality that hinders the delivery of a quality education product in our school system?†Lewis also asked in the speech. “When will we address the fact that rich, white people think they know what’s in the best interest of children of African Americans and Latinos—no matter what the parent’s income or education level.â€
Lewis called for “an end to corporate subsidies and loopholes.†She demanded “progressive taxation†to close the $1 billion budget deficit currently facing the Second City and its public schools.
Higher income tax rates on wealthy residents would generate billions in necessary revenue, the union chief suggested. She also proposed new taxes for commuters and for financial transfers. [...]
Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis has all sorts of excuses for why the city’s fetid schools are hemorrhaging money, failing to educate students, and laying off teachers by the hundreds. It’s the fault of those darn “rich white people.†Even though minorities control nearly every part of the school district.
…… But notice what this woman never discusses? Yeah, TEACHING. All she talks about is union contracts, wages, benefits, and her anger about cuts in spending. The kids and their education is as far from Lewis’ mind as the next school year is from Chicago’s kids who were just released for the summer.
Like all representatives of a government employee union, Lewis is only interested in race cards, hatemongering, divisive rhetoric, and lies.
There is a reason why government employee unions were illegal all the way from the birth of this country until 1958. They are un-democratic, against the best interests of the voters, and bad for our government. Even Franklin D. Roosevelt, the patron saint of extreme liberalism, was against government unions.
Unions are antithetical to good government and teachers unions are a detriment to our kid’s education.
By the way, Karen Lewis has been “praised as a “fist-in-the-air, crowd-rousing, dynamic union leader†by by former Communist Party revolutionary turned Obama-funded “school reformer†Michael Klonsky”:
She’s good at pandering to her Che Guevara T-shirt-wearing colleagues and trash-talking the political machine. But she is the machine.
The Chicago Teachers Union rakes in nearly $30 million in forced dues from rank-and-file teachers every year. CTU is an affiliate of the behemoth AFL-CIO, which dropped an estimated $100 million in forced dues to support Democratic candidates and causes during the 2008 and 2010 election cycles.
Before Lewis took control of the CTU, the union was teetering on bankruptcy and owed millions of dollars in loans. The previous CTU president pulled down nearly $300,000 a year in base salary and compensation. Local union watchdogs reported that top CTU officers and staff with six-figure salaries and bonuses also received:
“… a monthly expense account for each administrator — officers, coordinators and field representatives — of $1,500; a car allowance of $7,000 per year (whether or not you have a car); 85 percent of car insurance and expenses paid; parking allowance; cellphone allowance; life insurance paid with union dues; and among other perks, a 53rd week of yearly pay for “working†over the Christmas holiday.â€
Lewis assumed the CTU presidency in June 2010. “Teachers union officials declined to provide information on Lewis’ salary,†The Chicago Tribune reports [Link -ed.] but records show that she made more than $71,000 for half a year’s work in 2010 — along with compensation from the Illinois Federation of Teachers in 2011 totaling at least an additional $64,000 on top of her unknown base salary and benefits.
The threats and intimidation were spoken by a (so called) man of the cloth…no less. Yeah, Jesus Christ was all about stalking and frightening children for the ‘better good’.
“By any means necessary!”
(Michigan Capitol Confidential) –LANSING — A speaker at a union protest against right-to-work legislation said if Gov. Rick Snyder signed the bill he would get “no rest” and that protesters would be at his “daughter’s soccer game.”
The Rev. Charles Williams II made the comments Tuesday to loud cheers before a group of thousands of union workers.
After his promises to harass Gov. Snyder, he introduced Rep. Richard Hammel, D-Mt. Morris Township, and House Minority Leader Tim Greimel, D-Auburn Hills. Williams is a Detroit-area pastor and left-wing activist.
Gov. Snyder later that day signed a bill into law making Michigan a right-to-work state. One of his daughters is a 16-year-old high school student.
“Just know one thing, Rick Snyder: You sign that bill, you won’t get no rest,” Williams said.
“We’ll meet you on Geddes Road [Where Gov Snyder lives with his family -ed.].
We’ll visit you at your church. We’ll be at your office.
“Because Michigan workers will not take it laying down — by any means necessary!” he said.
Everyone who has passed the hot dog cart knows what a kind and caring individual Clint is. He never fails to bestow a smile or friendly greeting. In no way [did] he provoke this attack, nor any of the behavior displayed toward him.
Beyond the Cart: The Story of Clint Tarver:
Regardless of your position on current legislation, rebuilding Clint’s Hot Dogs is something we can all support. Please give what you can to get this deserving businessman back out there!
The woman (Lorilea Susanne) who set up the fundraising page for Clint has spoken to his wife. Apparently Clint was hired to provide catering for the Americans For Prosperity tent which was also destroyed by union thugs.
*UPDATE* 11:40am – I have spoken with Linda Lee, Clint’s wife. She says he is absolutely overwhelmed with our support, even more so than by the events of yesterday. I would like to clarify the events, however. Clint hired as a caterer for the AFP tent which was torn down. He was much more concerned about the others, and particularly helped to get the women out of the tent. It was when he returned to gather his equipment that the taunts and racial slurs began. He says the working people did not respect the working man. He was not there to be political; he was just there to serve. This is the Clint we know and love. Please, let’s respect him and leave our political opinions out of this. This is about our support for Clint.
Romney’s Saturday started off well. He was the star of the Ingham County Lincoln Day breakfast, an eggs-and-coffee-and-county-commissioner-placards affair in the dining room of a Lansing, Mich., country club.
Before he spoke, Republicans heard The Star-Spangled Banner sung by the Old School Fellas, a zoot-suited amateur doo-wop group. Mitt’s a good, Christian man like I am, explained Clinton Tarver, wearing the reddest of the zoot suits.
Update 4: AFP Michigan organizer Annie Patnaude discusses the attack. She was onsite and witnessed the incident.
Update 5: Dana Loesch speaks with Clint.
Update 6: $23,771 raised so far. God Bless you one and all.
Update 7: Lee Stranahan’s in person interview with Clint The Hot Dog Guy. Topic: The union mob racist attack and the the attack on the AFP tent in Lansing. At first Clint was caught in the crossfire then the vicious union mob turned their racist anger towards him. He was working for the enemy –Americans For Prosperity. Thus deserving of their wrath.
Good Lord. Of course, they have no sense of shame, but are they also completely lacking a sense of irony? I mean, the Left has spent nearly four years building their Tea Party is racist meme, and the AFL-CIO brutes who were nearly all white, as Stranahan reports and video verifies if decide they just waste all that liberal media propaganda in order to terrorize a guy whose only crime is serving hot dogs?
*** UPDATE 3: Based on tips we’ve established the first name, above. Am working to identify two possible last names that share letters and the union local number from tips. We need as much video/photos as possible that can give us a clear shot of the name and number on the jacket. Please look closely at videos and photos you’ve access to; perhaps you’ll be able to get a decent screen grab.
Some public school teachers in the City of Detroit and around the state of Michigan are reportedly taking a vacation or a sick day today to protest right-to-work legislation likely to be approved by the state legislature. Under current law, Michigan public school teachers must pay dues to the teachers’ union. If the right-to-work law is enacted, Michigan public-school teachers will be free to join the union and pay dues to it if they wish, but they will also be free not to join the union and not to pay it dues.
Detroit public-school eighth graders do even worse in math than they do in reading, according to the Department of Education. While only 7 percent scored highly enough on the department’s National Assessment of Educational Progress test in 2011 to be rated “proficient†or better in reading, only 4 percent scored highly enough to be rated “proficient†or better in math.
(Stranahan) –A violent mob destroys the Americans For Prosperity tent on the lawn of the state capital during protest against right to work legislation. While destruction happened, there were people inside the tent and some in the crowd were armed with knives.
LANSING (WWJ/AP) – Top officials raised the threat level in right-to-work discourse Tuesday, vowing to wage war against those moving quickly to pass the divisive legislation through the Michigan Legislature.
“We’re going to pass something that will undo 100 years of labor relations and there will be blood, there will be repercussions, we will re-live the battle of the overpass,†said state Rep. Doug Geiss (D-Taylor).
The battle of the overpass was a bloody fracas in 1937 between union organizers and Ford Motor Co. security guards. Walter Reuther was famously thrown down a flight of stairs and another union organizer was left with a broken back.
In the same verbal vein, Terry O’Sullivan, general president of the Labor International Union of North America, said during a rally the legislation is “dead on arrival.†He also told elected officials who support the measure that “we are going to take you on and take you out.â€
